Helping a Single Mother Persevere
Bailouts, bailouts, bailouts! I see them everywhere; given to auto makers, mortgage companies, banks, etc. All have the goal of sustaining & rebuilding our nation’s economy, by securing the futures of numerous corporations.
Our nation’s families need bailouts too! I am asking anyone who reads this to consider the individuals that are affected by the economy and encourage them to help out any way they can, even in the smallest ways!
I am a single mother; college educated, and have 10 years experience in my professional field. I moved to New York one year ago, so that my 13 year old daughter could attend art school. In November 2008, I was laid-off, and I am still looking for work. Fast-forward to March 2009, my savings have run out, I am on state cash assistance, and am facing eviction! Never, has my life been so unstable and frightening!
I am NOT asking for money or anything of the sort! JUST guidance!
Gratefully, NYC has the Family Eviction Prevention Supplement (FEPS) program. It is designed to keep single-parents off the streets and in homes. The FEPS program will pay my rent for one year while I secure new employment. FEPS is NOT Section 8, and there are only a few simple steps to enter the program.
What will it take to keep me and my daughter off the street??
- A property owner to rent me an apartment for $850 a month, with a 12 month lease.
- A letter requesting funds for the 1st month rent and security deposits.
- Proof that the property owner actually owns the property.
THAT’S IT!
I would think it’s an excellent deal for any property owner, a guarantee of paid rent for a year. What a wonderful opportunity, especially these days!
Still, I have found nothing! Brokers turn me away, rental advertisers don’t respond.
I want a home! I can’t imagine I went to college, built up a career, only to find myself living on the street.
*********************************************
This is my prayer: Please, someone contact me. Please, offer to rent me your property. Please help a lovely, generous, and charismatic person get back and stay on her feet, during our nation's economic fall-out and upcoming recovery :-)
If you have a place for rent, know someone who does, or can offer any suggestions that will lead me in a positive direction and to a home, I will welcome any responses.
My many thanks and blessings!
