Apertivo Idol
My fella and I went out for dinner last night and decided to give Apertivo a shot since it's close by and the prices are good. But we walked in to discover that they had American Idol on -- not just picture, sound too. I am really not very picky, but that's pretty bad. I'll watch the old A.I. now and then, but if I'm gonna have my once-in-a-great-while-dinner-out, I sure as sheez don't want to be subjected to America's Next Top Karaoke Singer. So we high-tailed it over to Primo Atto, which was outstanding as always.
I'm mostly just putting this here in hopes that they'll see it and get the hint, although maybe our walking out helped. I'm sure some people are into having the tv on during dinner out, but I'm guessing that more would rather not, and especially not that.

I totally understand why you posted this. TV watching best at home and to walk in to a restaurant and have TV on tunes to something you wouldn't even watch at home would cause me to leave. Glad you enjoyed Primo Atto. We ate there Sat night and the service was a real problem. The other times we have eaten there no complaints about anything. I was thinking about updating my rave reviews on the place but I think it was just a bad night for them and that happens so gonna let it be and try it another time.

Yeah, it was actually slow last night too, but I am letting it slide too since every other time I've been there it's been fabulous, and there was also a big party in front of us. Plus, once my gnocchetti with shrimp, mussels, clams and calamari arrived, all was forgiven.

I don't like the food at Appertivo and I love the food at Primo Atto...but service is something they still need to work on. I have spoken to the owner and he wants to hear about problems

what's wrong with Adam Lambert serenading you during some subpar meatballs?

I need to elaborate on my bad experience with Primo Atto to say that a woman at the table with the large group was an owner/manager/ someone because when she saw my friend looking around the room towards the kitchen.. trying to get someone to tell us how much longer the wait for food was gonna be.. this woman walks over and says, "Is everything o.k." In the moment we didn't catch that SHE WAS connected to the restaurant and my friend just said we had been waiting a long time for the food to arrive. She just sat down back with her group. The waiter was also clueless as to what to say when he was gently told that we didn't want dessert because the meal had already taken 2 1/2 hrs.
I felt so bad about the whole thing because I brought people here who had never eaten at Primo Atto before (and now won't again) and one of my friends is a food critic. Her take was she did not plan to review the place at all because if there is so much more bad than good to say best to say nothing publically. -
So much more bad? the service was that slow? Why not talk to the manager when you were there? The owner is always there, I would hate to see this place go in the toilet because of one bad night, Was the food bad too?

Sloper the food was not bad but to be honest some of the dishes were not as zingy as I remembered on my other visits. In part I think that was because of the long wait and frustration. I think I am not sure who the owner is even though I have eaten there more than half dozen times. Trust me we did inquire about what was taking so long to ANYONE who approached the table but the answer was food will come shortly and then it did 45 minutes later.
I would hate to see this place go under but you have to agree that their hold on possible sucess seems tenuous and they need to charm everyone to spread the good word and become repeat customers. -
wow, told it would come shortly and then it showed up 45 minutes later? that is bad. shoot, I hope they clean up their act. this thread needs to be shown to the owner.

I believe the owner's name is Guisseppe - longish hair - and he's usually there. I would talk directly to him if you can - I believe that the woman is a hostess (I think that Guisseppe owns the restaurant with the chef and it's only the two of them)
