Does anyone have a good closet designer?

I'm considering purchasing a condo in the area which lacks closet space. I definitely would get estimates from all the usual places- California Closets, Contemporary Closets, Closet Factory, etc. I will possible need wall units and shelving done in an existing space. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Maybe there is a local person who specializes in this? Thanks!

  • I can highly recommend this really great guy based in Sunset Park. He built an entire closet that we partially designed ourselves with drawers, clothes racks even a little pull-out rack for scarves in what would have been dead space. Tony: tvandmp(at)hotmail.com
  • easyclosets.com is great. we used them for 4 of our closets.
  • Is that the one where you measure it out yourself, they send the materials to you & you do it yourself? I think I'm decent at putting things together, were they fairly easy?
  • my brother and his wife have numerous times gone to the container store to have them plan the closet, then you bring the stuff home. i know they've been very happy with the results
  • Yes, easyclosets is an online tool. They have an web app where you enter the dimensions and then can drag and drop closet fixtures (drawers, hampers, rods, shelves, etc). It's really easy to do and to install; the instruction are, dare I say, elegant. Stuff comes very quickly (within 3 days or so ) bc they're located in NJ. Couldn't recommend them highly enough. I sound like a shill, but I swear that I am not.
  • i completely recommend the elfa system from the container store. you take your measurements, call them, they'll send you pdfs of the design, you make changes, then they truck the stuff to you from the store. my bf had a bit of difficulty installing it but the stuff is really sturdy (unlike the ikea equivalent).
  • Elfa is great.

We used transFORM for three closets (2 bedroom and 1 hall) and were very happy with the design and results:
