  • i saw that this afternoon too. i wish they had a sign with days/hours of operation.

went in for a cup of coffee on Sunday afternoon and it was fairly crowded - all seats in the front were taken and there were people sitting in the back too.
  • Excellent cap! I tried the olive oil cake that I was skeptical about, but it was tasty.

i walked by yesterday and noticed hours posted 8-7 on weekdays. the weekend hours weren't up yet, so maybe they were in the process of sticking the numbers on the glass door still.
  • I LOVE the new coffee shop. True, its not a cool funky Tea Lounge type of place, but there is absolutely nowhere in this neighborhood where I can sit and do my schoolwork for hours without having someone ask me every 10 minutes "Do you want something else?" (Bristen's)
The owner is really cool and he seems to remember what the "regulars" usually order. There's a relaxing, friendly vibe there.
Please support this place, we can't let another cafe in the area close down!
  • nothing against this place, but please be kind to bristen's. i am desperate not to lose it. i have hung out in there working at slow times -- after buying a coffee and breakfast sandwich -- with no problem.

i admit that i am friends with the owner, so maybe that changes things, but i'm only friends with her because i talk to her every time i come in and got to know her that way. i think if you come in when they're not busy with brunch and say something like, "i'd like to hang out and work, do you have a minimum order for that?" it would be fine. i've sometimes had some weird service there, but always nice.
  • Don't most people consider Monday to be the worst day of the week and the day that they're most in need of some caffination? I had run out of beans, Gorilla was fresh out of espresso beans, the ones at Joyce were roasted almost two weeks ago... and this place was closed... 'cause it was Monday. Damn, man, what's up with that?
  • I agree. Mondays are the day I'd be most likely to stop for coffee. And this place is only a few steps out of my path from my apt to the 4 train. I'd probably go there almost every Monday! The rest of the week I usually skip it and have tea at work, but Mondays are hard and coffee would be a treat.
