hi, i have a neighbor who works at a local real state agency. She is a very nice woman, very knowledgeable of the area (has lived here for a number of years) and has sold a few houses on my block.
Her name is Stacey. Here is the link

I actually had a bad experience with Stacey. She showed us a home and once we liked it and started talking about making an offer she suddenly mentioned that we would need to pay her commission (even though we were the buyers and that should never be the case because she was representing the seller). She had plenty of time (several days) to disclose the fact that she expected us to pay her fee but waited until we liked something—seems pretty shady to me. We ended up going through a Corcoran broker named Catherine Witherwax who was very knowledgeable about Brooklyn and the market. She was very helpful, honest—making sure we understood how the process works and what the real costs would be to us—closing fees, attorney fees, etc….
I am sure that there are many great agents out there, but watch out for the shady ones—and I think that they outnumber the honest/good ones….. -
I have a great real estate agent for you; in fact I have three. The first, is the woman currently selling us our house. She is the agent for the seller, but has been very helpful in hooking us up with mortgage brokers, info about the neighborhood, the sellers and all very professional, appropriate and very personable. Her name is Barbara Brown-Allen at Prudential Douglass Elliman - 718-902-2700. I can't recommend her enough.
You can also count on good info and straight shooter from Lois Thompson at Corcoran [email protected] - she showed us a few houses in Bed-Stuy/Crown heights and is incredibly knowledgable.
Lastly, but not least, is Anne Buckley with Fillmore [email protected]; while I hardly count filmore among great real estate companies - Anne works dilignetly and finds what you're looking for. She is knowledgable from Clinton Hill to Crown Heights and then some.
We were house hunting in the area for 3 months and finally found a great house on bergen and rogers, so I know of where I speak. Many knucklehead realtors out there, but these three won't stear you wrong.
If you have any other questions about finding a house, I've done a ton of research and know every website available to both you and the realtors, drop me a line if you want more info.
cheers
Good luck! -
Thanks for the information!

Do not go through Lang Realty! Mr Leiter never responds to our calls.
