I've heard of this place but have never been there. Thanks for the reminder!
  • The bahn mi is delicious here... I haven't been to the one in Sunset Pk, but I really love their tofu sandwich at Hanco's.

The bubble teas are still ridiculously priced. $4 for a plain black tea with tapioca? I mean, come on! What's the mark up on that?
  • I stopped in two weeks ago. The service was pretty slow, but I was expecting service to be an issue with this being the type of thing that Slopers would predictably swarm to when it first opened.

I had the chicken sandwich. It was actually my first ever Vietnamese sandwich. Thought it was very tasty. I'll definitely be back, especially with locals find their next little obsession and the line dies down a bit.

check. that's what I was thinking. The only advantage is closer-than-sunset-park, and messing that up with a half hour wait means sunset park is a better option.
  • I really like Hanco's so far. The wait times are some of the worst I've experienced, but the food is great. However, the only other Bahn Mi I've had was the Bahn De from Sidecar. It's definitely made me want to go to Chinatown and check out different variations.

Does anyone know if they have a delivery person yet?

    yep.
  • MPmav I totally saw you three last night on my way home but didn't want to seem creepy and you were walking across the street before I realized it. Next time I want to pet the pooch!

Haha! Awesome! I love creepy! You should definitely say hi next time.

I'll look for you walking your Lammas.
  • Bahaha - they're alpacas and they're in Colorado!
  • They're still very slow. My new strategy though is to call in my order. I wait 10 minutes, then walk the 8 blocks to Hanco's. I've rationalized my new Hanco's habit by saying it costs $4 roundtrip and $3.50 for the sandwich at Bahn Mi Saigon Bakery. So I'm actually saving a buck... Of course the savings equation gets thrown out when you add and compare the cost of the boba teas.
  • Nicky's has barely been mentioned here & that's a big oversight. They are located at Atlantic Ave. & Bergen and their banh mi is just as good as what you get in Sunset Park. The bread is crunchy because it has rice flour in it. The staff is Vietnamese and they offer pho as well. It's not that far from Park Slope; what's the problem?
  • Does Ba Xuyen have a vegetarian sandwich?

I actually like Nicky's more than Hanco's. The bread is more crunchy on the outside, they actually have real pate, as opposed to ground meat, and when you get it spicy they add jalapenos, not only sirracha (sp?)

I don't think they're on the menu but they will make it if you ask.
