Surely we can act interested in his tales from work in exchange for dinner.
Carmen, that's what you do, right?
Maybe you all forgot what the poor kid does for a living. I have to beg and plead to get a dinner out haha. I don't actually know if we're going tonight or tomorrow or sunday but goddamnit I'm going to make him leave the house at some point this weekend.
Guilt!
She guilts him into taking her to dinner and now us for not spending the fortunes he earns by scaring pedestrians.
....fine.
Seriously, who's going out this evening?
LOL at "fortunes he earns." Plus someone has to keep everyone at the parties inebriated with *cough cough* "party favors" 8)
If he gets off work early enough I'm going to make him take me (since I dont feel like cooking.) I wll let everyone know. I hope its not super duper packed. -
Some one take me out, I'm high on benadryl and an easy date :P

Mrs. whynot said I had to behave while she was gone, but thanks for the offer -
Melt is okay, not amazing, but they have some pretty good deals every week. Tempo has a wonderful wine list and good, solid, not fantastic, food. The buccatini was my favorite dish, while the duck app was my least fav (too sweet with the powdered sugar on it). Never been to elementi, but with al di la I've never even thought to go to another italian spot really. Enjoy the meal, and the discount!

I was going to go out for dinner, but then I remembered it's Dine In Brooklyn and probably a mess to get reservations.
Oh well, next week. -
Barrio is a no-go for me tonight. I guess im doing takeout and watching tv alone. whoopie. Happy friday.

I ate the last of the cheese, need more food.

I got a Diner's Deck for Christmas and haven't used any yet. Do they really work? I would assume the restaurants take them, but do they give you any grief about it? -
Four of us ate at Tempo this evening. It was truly a perfect meal. Restaurant week.. $23 for 3 courses. We raised the bill a little with some wine and coffee but a bargain for sure. I had forgotten how spacious and airy the space is. What a nice thing not eating with strangers right at your shoulder and that guarded feeling of your conversation and visa versa intruding. Magically when we called at 7;13 someone had cancelled their 7;30 reservation so we went right over and were seated immediately. Everything we ate was perfectly seasoned and prepared.

WHAT! Use them! $10!!!! I used one at Miracle Grill last night (the only place in Park Slope that we could get into). I have never had any restuarant/server give me grief. Maybe they never heard of it, never seen one, don't know how to put it into the computer, but they figure it out. -
Diner's Deck works. I got one for Christmas too. I just don't know when I'm going to hit some of the mediocre Manhattan joints on it.
Don't throw out Trout....theyr'e supposed to replace cards for closed restaurants if you mail them in, so don't throw out that Seymour Burton card either.
Tempo's the best of the three. Melt is good, although it really is one of the most overpriced places in the 'hood. Elementi is what it is, and what it is is nowhere near as good as what the reviews at the door say it is. -
It sounds like we need a Diner's Deck card swap, sort of like trading baseball cards. I'll give you an Elementi and something else for an Applewood!
-
We used our Sette card for brunch there. I'd given up on that place years ago, but got to find out that their brunch is a pretty great deal.
I'd probably trade an Elementi for anotehr Miracle Grill, since I used that one up already.

Wow, only Melt is left.
Melt is pretty good though the last time I was there I realized they do what James does but James does it better. -
Tempo can be really, really good and can also be really, really bland. Their food and menu are variable. If you go on the right night, you will get a great meal, if you go on the wrong night, no so good. Also, my wife likes the portions, I find them small.
For that money, I would go to Blue Ribbon. -

If you go to Tempo on any night, you wont' get food. Place closed down.

oh damn is that true! hahaha -

It makes sense that it closed. The last few times I went were not good, the first few times were. -
I ate at Temp during the last restaurant week and within weeks of that they were closed.
It was a really memorable meal.
Best to eat at places that are still open, though. -

Yeah, Melt is the last remaining restaurant of these 3. I will miss Tempo, but I have to admit to a little schadenfreude about Elementi after the bullshit they pulled with caseopele. I definitely would have tried the place if not for that episode, and if it was good I would have been back.

Scarlett and I ate at Melt over the summer. I enjoyed it - the cocktails were the best part, though. But then, I'm not a foodie, I'm a drinkie. Cocktails are always the best part to me.
