turtles! — Brooklynian

turtles!

here's a nice, positive CH post:

fyi, the turtles at the BBG have emerged, and are snaking their dusty little heads around in the sun.

the cherries are beginning to bloom, the deciduous magnolias are well along, and you should go check it out.

(and don't tell me it's not in CH; i can smell the spice factory all over the garden, and it's close enough.)

  • Awesome,
Isn't there a day when the BG is free?
I haven't even been yet
  • it's free before noon on saturdays and all day on tuesdays. also every weekday november-february. (there is actually still lots to see in winter)

we became members when we first moved here, which has been wonderful. it was $75 for dual/family membership. i figure that the membership is good for us since a) at $5 per person per visit, it doesn't take long to spend that much on individual tickets, and b) knowing that i'd spent the money would be a good incentive to go there a LOT. and we do.

i think they also do an even cheaper frequent visitor thing where you get free admission but not other member benefits.
  • Thanks!
  • Sweet Tea,
Thanks for the tip on the turtles!
My wife and I went there today and it was great. This may sound dumb, but there's something really calming and soothing sitting there watching the turtles swim around and bask in the sun. Oh yeah the Gardens were nice too.
  • so glad you had a good time. the gardens rock. as do turtles.
