heroin den at 201 Eastern Parkway? — Brooklynian

heroin den at 201 Eastern Parkway?

Comments

  • That's what college kids from Tennessee get for playing with drugs in Brooklyn?
  • anyone live in 201?
  • Interesting, I had heard rumors that something had happened along the lines of two OD deaths.
  • That's my landlady's building. She has the main offices on the main floor. She's a hard ass, so I REALLY REALLY doubt that there's a real life "drug den" on her property, happening right under her nose. I'm not saying that this isolated incident didn't happen, I just think she'd kick anyone's ass that was doing fucked up shit on her property on a consistent basis.

It's actually a pretty nice building- very gothic and cool lobby.
  • Ok- checked the Brownstoner comments and found this from the original tipster...
"I'm a fellow resident of 201 and the original tipster on this story. "Hive" wasn't my choice of words, but I don't think it's a stretch by any means.

The fact is, the police have been called to 1M many times in the past. I've spoken to officers who have been in there. The management company is aware of the problem and would love to get the woman out. But right now, everyone seems powerless to do anything about it. Maybe what happened yesterday will change that.

You're absolutely right--it is a great old building filled with wonderful people. Sadly, there are two major exceptions---IM and another apartment that seems to be headed in that direction.

Anyway, my reason for tipping the story wasn't to knock 201--I love the building too. But I do think it's important that people know about what's happening. Hopefully the increased awareness will motivate the city to get something done. The guys who operate out of 1M are remorseless. Without trying to be too dramatic, unless they shut this thing down, it's only a matter of time until there's another tragedy. "
  • I predict a death will get it shut down.... at least for a while.

It's not like they are dealing out of an abandoned building.

...usually dealing heroin that results in someone's death on site is enough for an eviction.

P.S. Looking for an apartment? I predict 1M will soon be avaialble.
  • We've been in the building for 10 years and had no idea this was going on, but I've enjoyed our happy ignorance -- most of the shouting and open dealing we see is on Lincoln, on the back of the building. My husband saw the body bag leaving and wondered wtf. What a mess.
  • I live a couple of buildings over and I never would have guessed something like this was going on there.
  • Movers are in today.
  • new people moving in?

...or the stuff of the alleged heroin dealers is being moved out?

    Out.

Given recent form, the apartment will probably be gutted and completely refurb'd. The management has done that to a lot of the apartments in that building recently. So I wouldn't expect new tenants until next month.
  • Shit, maybe I'll move in. I love that building (from the outside anyway).
