where can i go for a good painless brazilian?

Never had a brazilian, but had a basic at Studio 97. It was relatively cheap, but not painless or really fantastic. Okay for a quick trip in the hood, but an outing that might make me cringe. I think it was around $20.
I had one another at Completely Bare (in Manhattan and mentioned in other threads, just search the boards to read more). It was much more expensive but less painful and more thorough. For a first time, CB is not a bad way to go. -
I'd highly recommend Shobha Soho in Manhattan (at Broadway & Houston-ish area) for a Brazilian. They are a bit pricey ($50-65), but if you sign up for their newsletter, they offer specials all the time. They are one of the cleanest places I've ever been- they have a no double dipping policy and won't put the wax stick back into the wax after the first dip. My favorite part is that you can make an appt. online. I'm not affiliated with Shobha, I've just had some BAD Brazilians before.

For $40- Elan Salon on 7th Ave in Park Slope. They're Russian ladies, and as far as I'm concerned (I'm of Russian descent) they know how to remove unwanted hair as painlessly as possible. Think strong women who rip it out fast. Fast= less pain. 718.789.1700.

Dude I am both intrigued and terrified of a brazilian- three questions
1) How long does it take (average)
2) How blinding is the pain really? I wax my own face/eyebrows with no squeemishness and would have no problem doing my own legs if I wasnt lazy
3) Ingrowns? -
1. The first one I had took longer (maybe 20-30 minutes). Most times after that took less, around 10-15 minutes. Like Whatchuwant said, the faster the less pain.
2. The first Brazilian I had I didn't really, ahem, groom too much ahead of time, and the pain wasn't blinding at first, but the last half became horrible because she had to go over some of those sensitive places more than once. Since then, it hasn't been blinding. And the place I go, they put a cold compress on afterwards that really soothes the pain.
3. Ingrowns happen, but exfoliating before and after generally helps prevent those as much as possible. My waxer threads (instead of plucks) any stray hairs and I think it really helps prevent ingrowns. -
1) takes 5 minutes for monthly appointments
2) after the first time it's not bad, not screaming or crying, just some areas are wince-sharp-intake-of-breath-worthy
3) in many years of brazilians I have never had one -
Reading this thread allows me to get to know my fellow posters more than I otherwise would.
...just sayin' -
So true whynot, so true.
But who dyes their pubes here? -
I fear I have killed the thread.
-
I really don't get this brazilian waxing thing. Why would you pay a total stranger to do that to you? And the positions you have to put yourself in are just... I don't know, I guess I'm way too much of a prude to let a stranger get all in my business like that. If a guy doesn't like the way I take care of it myself then he can blow it out his ass.

I think brazilians are pre-pubescent in a really disturbing way. plus, hair was put there to protect you....i'm not saying there should be a jungle going on, but a nicely-manicured lawn is perfect

I did it once and my husband said the same thing -
OMG you guys, don't you know there's something seriously wrong with you if you think that?!? I'm just preparing for one of those comments although I completely agree.
-
Well, I'm happy to be done with puberty (eve though I still have fucking pimples), so let me show my gratitude :-)
-
As far as in-growns are concerned- I use Tend Skin on a daily basis- and its perfect.
As far as opinions of hair or no hair down there- I like having brazilians. Some of us can get a bit bushy down there, and just shaving simply will not cut it. The positions they put you in? Yea, its kind of embarrassing at first, but then you realize that they've probably seen worse than you and they do it all day, every day. I treat my lady like my gyno, she's seen it all!
As for men jumping on this thread and getting TMI....well, you clicked on it!
-
Shaving!!!!! Yikes. I could never shave that area. I love waxing. It is special. And when and if the hair grows back in, it's more sparse, more soft, lovely. I do it for me. But I will say that the last person who saw the before and after really didn't like it, or care one way or another.
And whynot, stop being a creepy chicklynian lurker and get thee back to the lounge! -

...I said it was alot of info, but at what point did I say it was TMI?
Are you saying that if Guy-lynian, Male-lynian, Hottie-lynian, or whatever-lynian is created that you are not going to read it? please. -
I'm telling Mrs. Whynot!
-
She knows.
...p.s. How am I lurker when 4 out of 12 posts on this thread are mine? -
True enough, accept it ladies it's a public forum and searchable through google too. Whynot keep up the good fight. I thought it was funny. Now tell everyone on the board more bout all your coochies.

YOu mean my Giggle Garden? Delicate Flower? Let's talk about someone else's and keep the glory under wraps.

Next you'll tell me I am not supposed to read Cosmo when it is the only thing beside Sports Illustrated at the doctor's office.
...all this talk about wanting a new age sensitive guy is totally false.
This is oppression, I tell you. My role as a male is being strictly defined.
Here I was going to make my next post about where to get a good Brazillian, but now I am not going to. Lot of guys get Brazilians afterall! -
Really? None of the brooklynians I have slept with brazilianed their downstairs.

Without questioning your sample size, I wish to point out that I've heard there is a world OUTSIDE of Brooklynian.
So, I guess we can declare that Scarlett has not slept with any of the above females.
I wonder if we can rule out Mougar as well.... -
1) I do know what Mr whynot posts.
2) Why he posts it is unknown.
3) Should anyone become actually offended, well you read his posts, you knew what you were getting into.
PS I have no opinion about Brazilians, the waxing. Brazilians the people are lovely. Truly lovely. -
Mrs. whynot!!!!!
whynot, you have ruled out about 15 posters, so now down to a pool of like 7275. -
damn, how do you walk girl!
