Does anyone know of a good/reasonable place to get the window replaced in Park Slope area? Broken into yesterday on Berkeley between 6th and 7th, with absolutely nothing in the car.

  • totally annoying, fer sure
There's a place over by Greenwood - reasonable price, super nice guy named Joe - 7th Ave on the other side of the Expressway

Someone had keyed my car down to the metal across 2 doors. Got the whole thing repainted and I can't even tell it was ever damaged.
  • ^^That place is pretty far away from here! but, curious here, how much did that cost you?
  • I'm in Crown Heights North and my car was broken into on Saturday morning as well. Although, it's not close to you I went to Mel Clyde Ricks Auto Glass 460 Troy Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11203, (718) 735-8055. I have a 2000 Lincoln Navigator and they replaced the passenger window behind the driver's seat for $165.

I met my friend for breakfast at a local dinner and they were done by the time I got back. They did a great job!
  • longtimesloper - $550 for both doors repainted. I have an RX8 so the back door is a bit small compared to your typical 4door car.
  • I forgot to mention they gave me the factory tinted window, so you can't even tell it's a replacement.

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better about the price I got from the body guy at my mechanic's!!
  • i'm the op. thanks for the recommendations---i'm going wth joe's auto glass--really nice and 165$ installed.
  • Ha! Are you saying I got ripped off? Did you get entire panels repainted or just feathered paint over the affected area?
  • no! all i'm getting replaced is the one driver's side window! i'm sure you got a great deal :)

sorry kwar, I was responding to longtimesloper. $165 for a new window installed sounds great if it is OEM glass!!

I never used the words "ripped off", I just said I felt better about the price my mechanic gave me for repainting my 2 side doors. And, yes, 2 door panels (a Camry) repainted, not painted over.

I have gone to my mechanic for 20 years now,so, maybe he gave me a deal, not sure. But he is well priced, others on this list have used him for mechanical and body work and been very pleased.

For example, he repainted the hood of my car recently, took the hood off the car, scraped it down fully and repainted and used some sort of protective top coating, $350.00
