heheh, ok maybe... but someone would need to explain to me how i put a photo on here. :?
  • check the "Ask Brooklynian" group below for an explanation. I wanna see too!
  • oh duh, thanks.

but was his arm in a sling?
  • nevermind that! come to my business because morgan freeman was here!

(and i'm kidding about what i'm inferring here. at least... i would very much like to doubt that enzo's was aware the guy was a phoney.)
  • i had a little peek through the wood at the place (YOGI, as I call it)....looks like you've made a lot of progress
  • I stuck my head through that hole in the plywood the other day. It's looking good!! Glad to hear work is going on because it always looks like no one is there.

I brought it up during a first date the other night when the guy asked what good local places I have to hang out at around my house..... don't let me down! Relationships are hanging on this place. :D

    Two ten, P.P.W.

god that was hard. 5-7-5 right? i googled that sh*t.
    spring is upon us
    Yogi's hibernation ends
    soon the taps will flow
  • It's getting closer! The wood panels are down, and you can see what the front will look like. I just walked by and they had one of the windows open. I could see the exposed brick and the framework for the bar.

    yay!
  • liquor license is still pending according to NYS website.
  • yeah... liquor license's are contingent on final approval of build out from the DOB. so the license sort of sits on a desk waiting for work to be complete and the final inspection.

this whole process is akin to bureaucratic goings-on described in The Trial by Kafka.
  • So, I was out on PPW today and I outed myself to Curlygreg. He was kind enough to give me a tour. It's looking good and definitely a big change from the video store!
  • awesome. I have a huge jar of change set aside exclusively for spending at YOGI.
  • To Flexichick:
Any time frame on the Grand Opening?

I didn't ask for a date, since it was obvious they've been asked this to death. He knows we're all eager :-)

Ha! I told his partner what my naming suggestion was. They have a name. They're not sayin' what it is, but they know.
  • yep, the place is really shaping up nicely, though i've only seen it from the outside and haven't scored a super-special tour like Flexi ;)

all i hope for is that it's ready for warm weather
  • oh! and i hope against hope that when the time comes to stock the bar and open, they will consider adding hard cider and not just beer mmmmmm
  • And please stock some yummy dry red wine! I can't wait!!!

BTW, love love love the windows - very old-style and very stylish. Can't even imagine how we were ok with that ugly neon-lit video store!

i never thought universal was ugly in my 20 years of renting there all the time and passing by everyday. the new bar sure doesn't look bad but it does look far from done. how do you know there won't be neon lights there too?

Ha, good point YankeeFan! I surely hope CurleyGreg knows a thing or two about ambiance. Candle light, after all, is not only romantic, but also cuts down those electricity bills :).
  • Note to CurleyGreg - determine whether neon lights will keep YankeeFan away ;-)

so you think every store on 9th ave with a neon light is ugly?
  • Subject: Hey neighbor

It's looking great with each peek I get into the windows.

I am definitely curious at just what kind of crowd we will get - especially since we're sharing the same address!

Some are better than others. :) I work in a neon-lit office all day, so I naturally prefer a more yellow type of light on my time off. My 2 favorite places when it comes to lighting are Beer Table on 7th and Song on 5th.
  • Hey, did anyone go up to YOGI to watch the NCAA championship game tonight?

    Oh, wait, no,we couldn't.

I'm shaking my fist so hard.

I hope YOGI isn't the place you'd go to watch the game. That's part of what attracts the crowd at Rhythm + Booze, and one of the reasons I am excited for an alternative.
  • I intend on going there for everything. SPorting events, elections, Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions,Weddings, Bar/t Mitzvahs, Brisses, steinhoists, keggers, ....
