Medical question, shoulder problem — Brooklynian

Medical question, shoulder problem

I'm having problems raising my left arm above my shoulder. I have no problem on my right side.

It's not a muscle issue because if I grimace through the pain I can get it above my shoulder.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

  • Why in the world would anybody want to raise their left arm above their shoulder?

we're not doctors, we just play them online.
  • I'm not a doctor, but I remember someone that I knew having those symptoms and it turned out to be something called "bursitis". Check it out

  • It could be bursitis. I had this for years and as it got progressively worse (shoulder stiffer, I could not lift the arm above being staight out from my body without great pain), I eventually had rotator cuff surgery (you're in and out the same day). A doctor will probably prescribe exercise and tylenol but this doesn't always do the trick; it may not get worse but it's not one of those things that will get better with time...
  • Some time ago I broke my shoulder in a skiing accident. I was unable to raise my arm above my shoulder for several months. X-rays showed that a piece of the bone had been torn away from the shoulder.

So, has that part of your body suffered any physical trauma recently?

    Tendonitis.
  • It's obviously leprosy. Soon you'll lose your nose.
