At first I thought he was high but then towards the end I realized he's just a dick.

You hit the nail on the head. At first, I thought he was an Alzheimer's victim, but now think he's a douche or a pathetic combination of both.

Can you imagine being the radio show host?
  • Maybe he's jealous of Joaquin Phoenix?

    Or Christian Bale?
  • Keanu Reeves?
  • I mean, the dude DIDNT ask him a bunch of questions about being an actor. He needs to relax. And his band sucks btw and I kind of like that sort of music.
  • Yeah, we've all seen the "I'm not sure what you mean" type of interviews before. Two things I want to know: one, is this their publicist's/manager's idea or their own (who came up with this idiotic image)? Two, was the interviewee acting like this proceeding the interview (who booked this fool for a talk)? And if so why even air the interview? I couldn't even make it though half of that clip before I closed the screen and said "yeah, whatever."

To me this is just more distracting nonsense.
  • "Would you ask that question to Tom Petty?" Uh, actually yeah, when interviewing Tom Petty about one of the few movies he made. What an idiot. Anyway, their Canadian tour was cancelled today after he was continuously heckled on stage. Yay Canada!

Oh, that is awesome. I love it when an egotistical asshole gets what he/she deserves. I mean, really--be happy anyone is paying any attention to you you Billy Bob. You are fugly as anything and , imo, an overrated actor.
    Fuck off!!!

    That felt good... :)
  • How much plastic surgery do you think he got after Swing Blade? He looks like an entirely different person now (not a great photo): http://www.billybobthornton.net/film swingblade.htm

He's an idiot and I'm glad there were negative repercussions to his actions.

Can't tell if he's just wacked out on weed or he's just trying to be funny(but it says his publicist released the statement so she either couldn't talk him out of releasing it or she's as nutty as him).

    Awesome.
  • I feel bad for his band members who are just sitting there watching this douche ruin their careers.
  • I think this album review summarizes the whole Boxmasters project pretty well:
Boxmasters works neither as parody nor homage. It doesn’t even really work as a vanity project. This is a record where the performers have infinitely more fun than the listeners. The Boxmasters are like a couple guys knocking back brewskis and having an impromptu drunken jam session: pleasant for them, but for any non-friends listening in, off-putting and insufferable. And whatever its rhyme or reason, the music produced is largely horrible, little more than an obnoxious novelty unworthy of a second listen or even a second thought.
  • Aren't they kind of in the same category as "The Bacon Brothers" except more crazy? It's not like they're a real band or anything. Although maybe that perception is what's driving him crazy, since it's clear he desperately wants credibility as a real band.
  • Billy Bob Thornton's band cancels Canadian tour (AP)
Source: AP Sat Apr 11, 2009, 10:27 am EDT

TORONTO - Billy Bob Thornton's band has canceled the rest of its Canadian tour after the actor compared the country's fans to mashed potatoes with no gravy in a testy interview that caused a sensation online.

The Boxmasters opened for Willie Nelson on Thursday in Toronto , where they reportedly were booed and met with catcalls of "Here comes the gravy."

A note posted on Nelson's Web site Friday said the Boxmasters were canceling the rest of their Canadian dates "due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu."

The cancellation came two days after Thornton made world headlines with a belligerent appearance on CBC radio's "Q."

The actor apparently didn't like that host Jian Ghomeshi started the interview with references to Thornton's Hollywood career.

Thornton refused to answer many of Ghomeshi's questions directly, mumbling: "I don't know what you're talking about." He later said Ghomeshi's producers had been told ahead of time not to talk about his film career.

Thornton also had some unkind words for Canadian crowds.

"Canadian audiences seem to be very reserved," he told Ghomeshi. "We tend to play places where people throw things at each other. Here, they just sort of sit there. And it doesn't matter what you say to 'em. ... It's mashed potatoes but no gravy."

Before his Thursday night gig, Thornton tried to clarify those remarks, saying he loved Canada and his "mashed potatoes" comment had been aimed at Ghomeshi.

Media around the world delighted in the story. Entertainment Weekly's Web site ran the headline, " Billy Bob Thornton : What's his problem?"

Me too! If Billy Bob wanted to hide his Hollywood history so badly, he should of let one of the other band members do the talking.
  • That DJ was absolutely professional. He did nothing wrong, was never out of line...he didn't deserve what Thornton was giving him.
  • my vote is that he was on mescaline
  • and that he is is a dick also

In fact, his first question -- which was got the immediate "I don't know what you're talking about" -- had nothing to do with Thornton's film career. He asked when the band got together. A staple from "band interviewing 101." Unless it's already a well-known story, every band is asked that question.
  • He's just bitter because Angelina and her hypnotic vagina are no longer his. It made him lose his damn mind. End of story
