Looking for a Pool in the Park Slope Area — Brooklynian

Looking for a Pool in the Park Slope Area

I am in PArk slope 6th St / 5th Avenue.

Looking for a pool, as I miss swimming, running in Prospect Park gets old after a while.

I couldn't find anything on this in the archives except for a post stating that the YMCA pool is closed.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Cheers.
Kai

  • I'm sure you already know about this but how about the Red Hook pool? It's not all that far from you and, in fact, I think you can jump on the B75 (?) part of the way or take the F to Smith/9th and walk from there. Or maybe you could combine your running and swimming by running to the pool: http://www.nycgovparks.org/facilities/recreationcenters/B126
  • Cool.
    Thanks Danielle.
Yes that works perfectly for a swim/run combination.

Will surely give that a try.

    Cheers.
  • Sure thing!

You should be aware, also, that there are restrictions on the types of t-shirts you can wear there. There are certain color and logo restrictions, I guess, based on gang colors/symbols. They will make you turn your shirt inside out if it violates the rules (the rules may be posted online).

    Have fun!
  • Yeah just been reading up on that.
    Interesting stuff.

Only white t-shirts are allowed apparently.

    Thanks again.
  • I think Red Hook Pool is only in outdoor so opens during the summer season.
  • Subject: Pools in park slope

    Other pools in park slope:

    1. Eastern Athletic Club: Across from the library on eastern parkway. Pool is on top floor with incredible views of downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan.

    2. Garfield Temple: Pool is only open to members.

    3. Maybe the Armory??? I haven't been yet, so I'm not sure what the new facilities are like.
