Nairobis Knapsack - Childrens Toy Sand Playspace on Franklin

I must have stayed inside too much this winter as just noticed this new spot a week ago ! I bought 2 dozen hellium balloons for a child's bday party - 1/2 the price of Lulus in Park Slope. Check it out !

  • Nairobi's Knapsack is pretty great. Very friendly staff. Although, this is kind of a funny story. I have a cousin who is a toddler growing up in Nairobi. She'll more than likely be there for the entirety of her formative years. Well for Christmas, I went to NK looking to buy her a book. Almost all of the books there (at least the ones they had when I visited) were about kids growing up in Africa, which I thought would be weird to get for a kid who would actually be growing up in Kenya. Suffice it to say, they didn't have any books about kids growing up playing video games and watching tv in the US (not that there's anything wrong with that, that's pretty much how I spend my evenings). So, I settled on a book about pigeons driving busses. The moral of this story is, if you're shopping for a book for a child growing up in Nairobi, you might want to look elsewhere than Nairobi's Knapsack.
