Hi all - I am looking for a jeweler to resize a ring. Any suggestions? Any endorsements?

THX!

  • Garry Jewellers on 5th Avenue next to Payless-been there a billion years. he will do a good job, honest guy, fair prices.
  • Do they also do appraisals? I also need a resize and appraisal.

    Thanks,
    Anthony
  • Hey. I need to get a ring resized too. Did you end up going to Garry? If so, how did that work out for you? Thanks!
  • Normally i would highly endorse Garry for ring resizing, but, i am not even sure they are open anymore. Michael, the owner, had heart surgery around Christmas time and every since then, I have seen the store closed much more than it has been open. As a matter of fact, the last month or two, it has been closed every time I have walked by
  • Sorry to hear that. I'll look into it. If they are indeed closed, does anyone else have a ring resizer recommendation in the the general slope/prospect heights vicinity?
  • Michael is still at Garry's. It seems the store is closed on Sunday and Monday. I was there last week to have some pieces repaired.

  • Really? Because I have walked by on days other than Sunday and Mondays (the days they have always been closed for years now!) and they haven't been open.

Apparently, the owner has no operating hours, per se, but lifts the roller shutter when he feels like it. Sometimes he works late, sometimes early, sometimes not at all
There's a clue to the discrepancy...

  • Hmm, that never used to be that way before. This all started after he had his heart surgery, I guess he feels better some days than others. it's a shame, because he was the only jeweler around here that I totally trusted. But, I won't be bringing anything to him anymore if I can't be sure when he will open again.
