got any good restaurants to suggest to take friends to?

like a nice chill place

Comments

  • for "chill", i have a couple of suggestions:

the surf restaurant on N. 6th just past Bedford Ave., they have a surfboard hanging from the front. Very chill place, get some fish. Good tropical drinks too, and def check the backyard. Sweet seating out there.

Brunch-Grand Cafe, Grand and Bedford. Israeli place with exotic food and a really relaxed atmosphere.

Williamsburg Cafe-anytime. Gorgeous indoor garden. Try it.

mymoon, N 1oth and Bedford. Turkish, but it's really teh setting that gets you going. Copious outdoor seating, great decor.

Bonita and Dumont/Dumont Burger get good "chill" status as well. Lodge on Grand and Havermeyer is great as well. Just avoid Taco Chulo, bad taste, bad staff, and too expensive.

    Anyone else?

PS. For delivery in Williamsburg, or just restaurant suggestions, hit http://zipmenu.com. They have all the info you'll need.

  • relish rules!!....
chicken sausage gravy and biscuits? mmmmmmmm
  • I recently went to Moto with a local. It's on Broadway under the JMZ train. INCREDIBLE! Don't know if they can sustain but they're great for first impressions :)
  • moto is great. i have been there probably a dozen times, and it's always fantastic. the specials are highly recommended. for decor and atmosphere, it cannot be beaten. such a fun location right? it's directly under the Hewes Street JMZ stop, only 2 stops into Brooklyn for the Manhattan dwellers. So good, and the owners are great as well.
  • I like Sweet Water Cafe, it's not at all fancy but the food is really good. The decor is a bit stale, as in dive bar like, but it's a cool place to kick back, have a couple beers and some good food.
  • someone above mentioned DuMont. that is one of my all-time favorite NYC restaurants. intimate. great food. good prices. it can get crowded but it's worth the wait.

i haven't been to the new location on bedford though.

the garden at the union ave location is nice in the summer.
  • i never like waiting in any line. i often just walk to the next restaurant.

dumont has a special place in my heart so i'm usually willing to grab a delicious drink at the bar and wait for a table. i'm generally not in a rush.

dumont brunch is the best. their bloody mary's are pretty much the tastiest thing ever. i had never been a fan, until i had one on new year's last year. now, i literally dream about bloody mary's at dumont. also, i'm becoming a connoisseur of huevos rancheros, and theirs are some of the best.

the people who own that and the restaurant on bedford, dumont burger, just opened a place on broadway, past peter luger's coming from the JMZ marcy stop. if you take the L to bedofrd and stay on bedofrd under the bridge, it's right there, on your left. it's called dressler, and is a step up for the area. gorgeous space, huge marble bar, and a very interesting menu. those guys obviously have a solid reputation for food and concept. should be worth the trip.

have you been to this new restaurant yet? i'm curious about it
  • Subject: Dressler is great

The menu is really amazing and its quite a dining experience. I'm a huge fan of Dumont as well, but this one is worth your time if you want a romantic, gourmet experience.
  • A while back I went to the newer Dumont on Bedford. The food was just as good as the original. It was quite an interesting space though. It's basically a bar-type setting, with rows of long benches & counters for people to sit at. It seemed it was easier to get a seat at this one than at the original.

    I heart Dumont.
