No Insurance
Does anyone know of any doctors, particularly dermatologists or dentists (if you consider a dentist a doctor) who don't charge an arm and a leg for patients without insurance?
I don't have health insurance and I tried contacting a few doctors and just to walk in the door they wanted to charge me $200. I know that I'll be in the office for 5 minutes and will get a prescription, so are there any Dr.'s out there that are sensitive to people without insurance and can charge a reasonable rate to help patients?
I'm going to look into Duane Reade/CVS walk in centers, but was hoping someone knew of a nice doc willing to help a brotha out.
Thanks

For dentist, check with Rosenkrantz on 8th Ave/3rd St. Besides being a well run place, they've worked with me on stuff my insurance doesn't cover and others on this board have said similar things. Just give them a call and check.

i dont have insurance either and this is what I do. call a number of places on the phone, explain your situation and most will negotiate with you on the price. they do not get 100% of the payment from insurance co's so most of them will not expect that from you. good luck

I strongly second Dr. Rosenkrantz. Here is my Yelp review: http://www.yelp.com/biz/park-slope-dental-brooklyn#hrid:ObDPuxc6w0BJ-Kg1GJ9WEQ/src:self
If you have no insurance, he changes NO sitting fee. It's great. Many times I go in and out for like $25. Also, the most understanding and caring dentist I have ever had. And he'll never do anything that you don't need.
Can you tell I like this guy?!?!? -
Subject: Dentist
I was without insurance last year and had a horrible toothache. I went to Dr. Nathaniel Sasson on the advice of one of my friends. He fixed me up, including x-rays for $60.00. I needed penicillin so he gave me a script that cost 10.00 to fill. He was great. I recommend him to everyone. Here is his information:
370 9th St
(between 5th Ave & 6th Ave)
Brooklyn, NY 11215
(718) 965-9823 -
This si good to know, because we also do not have insurance for ourselves. We used to go to a dentist on 9th Street between 5th and 6th who was very good about working with us on prices since we had no insurance, but, I won't go to him ever again after something a few years ago. Glad to know there are other people out there who are good.
