That's Chicago style. Not my preference, but at least respectable as a real hot dog variant. Ketchup on hot dogs is for barbarians.Condiments should be applied in the following order: wet condiments like mustard and chili are applied first, followed by chunky condiments like relish, onions and sauerkraut, followed by shredded cheese, followed by spices, like celery salt or pepper.
Bullshit! -
I am also a long-time lurker, first-time poster. I like ketchup AND mustard on my hot dogs. I lived in Chicago for a while, the hot dogs are decent, but strange. A combo (Polish sausage with gyro meat on it)?
That is tasty. -

Welcome. Hi.
That is tasty.
Lovin' the you lovin' ketchup so just umm....get rid of that nasty habit that is mustard and you should be fine. -
But what is the proper thank-you note etiquette after throwing a hot dog down the hall?
Still not in keeping with hot dog's unpretentious nature? -

LOL! The Bachelor.
Do you put ketchup on your hot dogs? :-k -
I had the 15 bite hot dog from Booklyn Diner last week. It was wider than me and 2 of us couldn't finish it by ourselves. It came with mustard, ketchup, relish, sourkraut (yuck) and onion rings:

awe, she saved this picture for just this moment!

There's nothing Brooklyn about the Brooklyn Diner.
A New York hot dog should be served with mustard and sauerkraut, and if desired, the red onion relish. -
Yeah it was nasty but I had to try it for the kitsch factor. I'm a classic Chicago Dog girl myself. Give me poppy seeds, mustard, and tomatoes or give me death.

We're going to have to work harder to get this hot dog hall throwing business into the common lexicon at Brooklynian.
Still not in keeping with hot dog's unpretentious nature?
All we know so far is that throwing a hotdog down the hall is typically preceeded by a paper napkin. I suppose the back side of the napkin could double as a thank-you note. Even grifters are green these days. -

Did you live/are you from there? I went to UIC for a year. I liked the hot dogs (no tomatoes, blech!!), great steak & Greek food, pizza was awful! :pukel: -

i beg your pardon. it is NOT chicago style. chicago dogs do not have chili or cheese. yuck.
chicago dogs rule. -
MMMMMMMM. Food porn.
-
New York hot dogs are the best.
-
-
But...but...but... Cincinnati Chili is the one with the spaghetti, onions and cheese. Spaghetti on a hotdog?!?
-
I am not defending Cincinati chili.
As you can see from the menu, some of it is just wrong.
...there is an emergency in Underhill playground. Such conversations are needed there ASAP. -
Can't we just all agree that mechanically separated pork leftovers aka hotdogs are DISGUSTING no matter WHAT you put on them? kthnx
-
The ketchup and mustard are probably mechanically seperated too. Let's just rule out mechanically seperated foods all together! No GMOs, no MSFs!
-

Not at all. Besides, many of New York's great hot dogs are all beef. -
Is that better? Mechanically separated beef parts, some nitrates thrown in, a galon of salt.
-
Carnivore, can't you merge this thread with Underhill Playground?
c'mon, its Friday. -
