So weird - just now, in front of my office (in Manhattan) a guy fitting this exact description was doing the same thing (minus the van - he didn't care who saw him)! Seriously.
I thought maybe he was looking for Scarlett. -
But he was in front of YOUR building, not mine. Just sayin.
-
On a serious note, as the weather gets warmer, I'll bet you see more incidents like this all over the city.

Brooklyn in the Spring
Blossoms, trenchcoats all open
Look, don't look...surprise! -

im gonna need some serious shades :? -
Lucky for me I won't see them!
-
The next person who sees him should tell him about the Park's the Veil of Cashmere. It is so close by.
-
despite the jests people are making in the thread,
the fact that the guy is NOT hiding in the park to do this
but rather is blatantly wanking off as a CROWD goes by,
suggests the possibility of "escalation".
PLEASE be careful ladies. -
and this is why the good lord invented castration.

Awesome.... Seems like every year things get worse and worse. Anyone think it might have something to do with pharmaceuticals being dumped in our drinking water?!!!??

Need you be reminded how bad NY was during the '80s?
If you see him, avoid him, then call the police. -

despite dozens upon dozens of people walking by ,
some oblivious, some averting their eyes, some making the OMG face
some looking nauseous, some looking scared,
it seemed i was the only one concerned enough to STOP
and call the cops.
which really pisses me off btw. -
I'll tell you one thing... if I was walking with my daughter (or son for that matter) and that guy even looked at them funny I'd beat the living shit out of him without hesitation.

I actually just checked out this post because I was flashed this morning, but by a white homeless-looking guy in the 16 st. stairwell entrance to the 15th St/Prospect Park F stop. He was standing right there with it out as I rounded the corner and he just stood there blocking my way.
It was really early (6am) and no one was around. I ran around him and told the booth guy, who didn't really seem to care. I was a bit in shock, so I just went and got on the train. Now I regret not sticking around to make sure the cops were called, but I just wasn't thinking clearly. I asked the afternoon booth guy if he knew anything about it, but he didn't, so I don't think anything was done. Be careful around there early in the mornings. -
Update: On the good advice of a friend, I just filed a police report now. The cops said the transit cops try to provide higher security in the places with the most complaints. So even if it's after the fact and you think they can't catch the guy, it's good to report it.
-
Glad you reported it. There are too many of those creepy guys around and they seem to lurk in the subway for the exact reason you bring up - because subway workers couldn't care less about dealing with issues like that and the pervs know it.

While I would likely respond to such a thing as a direct threat as well,
i dont want anyone thinking that this thread was intended to rile up the villagers into getting out their torches and pitchforks .
I do wish i had had the presence of mind to snap a picture of the guy
so that i could have given it to the police.
Furthermore, the police occasionally station a beat cop outside of a bank that, as a matter of policy , refuses to get teller safety glass.
It is not the polices function to use my tax dollars to play security guard at a private institution that refuses to take basic precautions.
It is polices function to protect the PUBLIC.
So hows about occasionally putting beat cops near subway entrances.
DUH ?????? -
Greensneakers, I think we were flashed by the same guy.
I was leaving around 5:30AM and he was in that same stairwell. I just ran past him. This was back in March. I should have reported it.
That subway stop has a lot of entrances. It will be hard for them to keep an eye on all of them. -
I'm pretty sure a conviction for public lewdness doesn't even result in being classified as a sex offender, but I could be wrong. Find a registered pervert near you....

Dottietron, thanks for the post. I leave early a lot and usually use that entrance. I'll definitely be more aware. Maybe get some pepper spray and serve the bastard right. He's probably harmless, but it's really scary, especially when no one's around.
-
I'm all for carrying pepper spray. When it's obvious that cops/ subway workers won't or can't do anything about it, bring your own brand of vigilante justice. End it right then and there.

Nope, it has to do with politically correct idiots who don't build enough jails to keep the scum locked up. -

I'd advocate stun guns. I agree with more jails but also keep them there longer. Most are repeat offenders. -
clearly the solution is to lock someone up forever as a result of public lewdness

From my past experiences, flashers HATE to be called out. They LOVE it if you say nothing at all, run away, etc. If you yell and point and make a big stink, trying to attract as much attention as possible to their lil' willies, it freaks the shit out of them.
These losers shouldn't be allowed to just show off their nasty junk in public without getting our honest opinion. Just sayin'! -
Based on the description of the perv and what he was doing, this sounds a lot like the guy I saw sharing his love of self in that very location two years ago. Back then, it was a homeless guy who I would ordinarily see loitering on Flatbush Ave in front of stores, or dry shaving (ouch) on Plaza Street. Of course, this could be a completely different perv. Either way, I agree with most of the advice here. Thanks for calling 911 Garfunky.

"Cops say they've arrested a sex offender after undercover officers caught him assaulting a woman on the subway.
Police caught Darrel Corian exposing himself and rubbing up against a 19-year-old woman at Grand Central Station.
Corian was paroled two weeks ago after serving time for persistent sexual abuse and was supposed to stay off buses and subways. "
