I always thought Iman should've played Storm...

I not too fond of Halle either... I think her acting is overrated... and she has the Beyonce overexposed thing going on...

  • Is it a "Move your car or it will get moved to the nearest safe, legal spot" deal? Oh, yeah. Fuck that and get your lawyer on speed dial. I got $200 out of a movie production crew in Knoxville, TN (Box of Moonlight) once because they wanted me to move my car from in front of my house. They said they had permission to tow all cars yada yada. I told them that if I saw a tow truck backing up to my car I would start punching tickets. I was asked how much it would take to get me to move the car on my own. I figured 2 C-notes would cover it. Got to eat lunch with John Turturro too. Now there's a strategy to meet Halle Berry (unless you are a hater). Box of Moonlight is an excellent flick, IMHO.

that may fly in knoxville but in nyc...i doubt they'll be so generous. especially b/c the parking spot in front of your house here belongs to the city not you...but you probably are well aware of that on tue/ thurs or whenever your street cleaning is.
  • One time I saw John Turturro walking around Park Slope. That has nothing to do with anything, but I thought I'd mention.

You don't own the spot in front of you house in TN. But the movie production team doesn't own the damn street either. Pain in the ass, I say, therefore Halle Berry shall pay. What?

in nyc you do own the front of the sidewalk even though its public. if anything needs fixing you still are responsible.

Doesn't John Turturro live in Brooklyn ... or is it Steve Buscemi ... one or the other ...

    I believe they both do.

Yup, they both live in Park Slope.
  • One thing I hate about NYC is how film crews get to shut down your whole damn block. You know they are paying location fees to the city, but what about the residents who have to deal with moving their cars and other inconveniences?

John Turturro lives on President between 8th Ave. and Prospect Park West...I saw him going into his place this weekend.

It also creates a lot of jobs for associated industries (i.e. catering, casting, location scouts, equipment rentals, prop rentals, etc.), and I've had a number of friends over the years that have worked for film productions. Individuals (i.e. property owners) also make money on renting their homes, businesses, etc. to film crews for shoots. My son's preschool got a nice check a couple years ago when they were filming the final scene to "War of the Worlds" in Park Slope. NYC has a rich film history, plus it's a kick to watch something like "Squid and the Whale" and say to people, "Hey...I've eaten at that restaurant" or walk by the house from "Duplex" and meet the people who actually live there.

Cities compete heavily for this business (a lot of US shoots have moved to Toronto and Vancouver in recent years), so it's great to have this industry stay local -- particularly because the whole movie business started in NYC/LongIsland/New Jersey about a 100 years ago.

Yeah, it's an inconvenience, but if people want convenience there are plenty of more convenient places to live in the world...and conveniently located by a local WalMart.

    BROOKLYNIAN STALKER!!!!!!!!!
  • John Ventimiglia (bka Artie Bucco) lives in Park Slope too, on 7th Ave.

Alright, I admit I'm just trying to bolster my post #s to get out of "regular" status. I feel demoted.

You know what I thought the same thing yesterday... when I saw that I was a regular again. I guess I got to start commenting on every little thing now...
  • Subject: Film crew will get cars towed without a second thought

On my block in Clinton Hill, they've had like 6 filmings recently including the Chapelle Block party. But if you call the number on the No Parking flyers and speak to the location boss, they can usually tell you where on the block you can park. Except for Chapelle who took up two blocks, everyone else has been cool about letting us park with prior clearance.
Otherwise they will move your car without a second thought. And you aint getting any money out of them...they have the mayors office backing them up. Who do you have?

Yeah, same thing happened to me. I miss being "Grand Master". It sounded so....Dungens & Dragons.

Maybe we should start a new thread so we can just post incoherent bullshit to get our status back up?
