POOP CLEAN UP!!! — Brooklynian

POOP CLEAN UP!!!

Yes I'm another complainer of dog poop being EVERYWHERE on Classon Ave! Every day there is more and more if it smeared and piled up on my way to the shuttle. God dammit!! Does anyone know if 311 would have cleaners clean it up?! It totally deteriorates the neighborhood and it's nasty! Especially when wearing nice shoes to work. Com'on pet owners, be responsible!

  • I think chances of 311 cleaning up dog poop are somehwere around negative 10000 percent.

City doesn't even have enough cops to stop[ popel getting popped on Franklin once a month.
  • I've said this before.
§ 16–113 Removal of night soil and offal. The department is hereby charged with the duty of causing the removal of dead animals, night soil and offal from the thickly populated districts daily, and as often as may be necessary elsewhere, and of keeping the city clean from all matter of nuisance of a similar kind.

    Dept of Sanitation.
I think the people in Crown Heights are rather "thickly".

§ 16–117 Rules and regulations governing conveyance of rubbish, waste or offensive material through the streets. The commissioner shall have power to adopt rules and regulations:
    1. Controlling persons and their servants, agents and employees and the vehicles of each engaged in removing, disposing of, conveying or transporting upon the streets, public places or bridges, or over the ferries in the city, manure, swill, ashes, street sweepings, bones, garbage, night soil, offal, fat, hides, hoofs or entrails, or other refuse parts of slaughtered animals, refuse, rubbish, bodies of dead animals, or any other offensive or noxious material, paper stock, or trade waste;
    2. Rules and regulations adopted by the commissioner pursuant to this section shall be submitted to the board of estimate and, when approved by such board, shall be filed with the city clerk and published in like manner as prescribed by section eleven hundred five of the charter and shall be enforced in the same manner and to the same extent as local laws.

I always have my man servant trail behind when I walk my hounds.
  • i agree, people with dogs that dont clean up after their pet (as is stated by law) do indeed make me angry with their lack of concern and laziness regarding the condition of the neighborhood. I hate having to dodge large piles of shit because someone is too damn lazy to bend over and pick it up.

Bwahahahaha!!! What color is the sky on your planet?

I saw the coolest thing on a recent trip to Nicaragua: the city hired people to walk about with push carts and sweep the streets. It's something new that happened after the latest elections of three months ago when the Sandanistas took over most of the towns in the country in municipal elections. Their goal was to create jobs for unemployed people. Seems like a great idea to me. I hate the so called "mechanical brooms". What a dumb name, as if we needed to mechanize brooms around here. What a great way to lower our carbon footprint. Replace machines with people. What a concept!!
  • Yea I figured it would be a "fat chance" of thinking 311 would help. Ah well, there's probably nothing that's going to change. I just don't understand-- If you're able to feed your pet, why not pick up some poop? It's an added responsibility everyone should know about..hmmm
  • I 've posted about this before. I saw a woman discreetly(or so she thought) cover up her dogs poop with paper. I asked "are you going to leave that there" she says "what", I say "the dog shit you covered with paper" she says "I'm coming back for it", which I knew was bullshit. It's still sitting there, so lady if your reading this go get your dog shit!
  • Shake---oh my god I can't believe someone actually thinks to do that?!! That's like beyond logic you know?! Wow---so I guess it is a HUGE task for some dog owners. I can go on and on and on... I used to live in the Prospect Lefferts Garden area and it was BEYOND nasty with garbage, weaves (soo grosses me out), etc. but I don't recall much dog *shit. It makes me wonder if other areas are as bad or it's just ours. I'm glad I have supporters on here!!!
  • Subject: It is mind-boggling.

You know, it's just crazy. Like some sort of mental illness. I own a dog walking company...we clean poop every day. It's not so bad!

I think some people just aren't in the habit of thinking about certain things, like the disposal of their wastes and the impact of their lives on the environment. I once saw a boy throw his fast food trash on the sidewalk, right near a trash can. Aren't the fines being enforced? If this was Park Slope you'd get a citizen's arrest.
  • I think that many people are not taught to respect their environment and community. The things I've seen in terms of trash have convinced me that litter is just as much the fault of individuals as it is city services.
