It seems that I see that sight there most Saturdays.
(The husband and I have this knack for getting in before the mob forms outside. Hee.) -
i'm never up that earlier in that area
. or early in any area lol. -
Uh, yeah, all these people are doing this crazy thing called "eating breakfast." It's nuts, I know. But seriously: When the weather's nice (and even when it's not), Tom's has a line up the wazoo.

It's the annual spring migration of white people.

There's always a big ass group of white people in front of Tom's. Has been every day including Sunday (the dummies who didn't hear), since I moved here four years ago. I'm sure white people have been making that line happen for years before I got here.

I've got news for you all. They're even hanging/living past Nostrand and Atlantic. I remember back in the early 80's when the only time you saw whitey go past Underhill was between 2 am and 5 am when in my car service days they'd ask for a roundtrip to certain bodegas so as they could pick up a container of "milk". There! I've gentrifriconfronted you all.

Hah! Even in 2002, the only white cats I'd see would be scurrying to Keyfood and back, all hunched over and meek-like. Fucking hilarious! Now I see them at Muhammad's buying cigarettes in the wee hours. How things change!

There were other types of "bags" we bought up there too  -

. htey came for recreational stuff in the bags, not just the cultural activities that the area provided

Since we refuse to hop on any restaurant line more than a few people deep, the hubby and I were wondering if Tom's is really that good, or if people are just mobbing the place because it's the trendy thing to do amongst a certain crowd (like the afternoon line outside of Trader Joe's on 14th Street). Opinions from anyone who's eaten there?

Tom's is okay. The owner and the workers and the atmosphere are very pleasant. The food is pretty standard if not below average however. It's a nice place to go when it's not crowded.

Had I discovered David's Brisket House by Herkimer and Nostrand a few years earlier you would have seen me do the dash to and fro my car for a combo corned beef and pastrami sandwich.
Howdy, Stranger!
