Getting a fishing license immediately....
Looking to try fishing in Prospect Park this weekend, but found out I need a NY state fishing license (should've known). The park website says you can get a license immediately by going to Bernie's Bait and Tackle (http://www.berniesfishing.com/) and buying one there, but it's all the way in Sheepshead Bay...
So, anyone know a sporting goods store or place closer to buy one immediately? If not, looks like a little journey for me.
Thanks in advance...

I doubt they regulate it very much, I've gone fishing without one in the past. But not in prospect park, but I figure it's like most places and gets ignored.
If you do go please let us know how it went! -
i thought you can get them at triangle sports on 5th n flatbush. they DO ticket in PP for fishing w/out a license. i believe it was 75 dollar ticket.

yup, that's what the sign in the window says.
I've always wondered why they sell fishing licenses... -
Thanks everyone...I will check out triangle sports. As much as I like a good adventure, I'd rather stay close to home for this one.

one of my goals for the summer is to go out on one of those fishing cruises that leave from Seaford, Patchhogue, etc..
...anyone know if they have some that leave from marina at Kings Plaza.
I could take the bus there, go ot on boat, fish, then take the bus home with my big smelly fish. -
whynot - your question intrigued me so here is the answer -

There are boats that leave from Sheepshead bay. Might have to convince my husband to take a trip as he just learned how to fish a few months ago.
FYI in case anyone doesn't know this, you do not need a license for saltwater fishing. -
I'm creating a thread ...let's see if my fellow Brooklynians want to join me in this adventure. Mods, when you see the thread, please sticky it.

Hubby goes out on those fishing party boats all the time. usually with some other guys and their sons, he says it's a good time. he does it a couple of times a year, and, yes, he goes out on the boats leaving from Sheepshead Bay.

And, yes, you can get a fishing license at Triangle Sports, that is where we used to get them. But, you did not need a fishing license to fish on one of the party boats.
Howdy, Stranger!
