Favorite restaurant in park Slope and why?

Well, it was Cocotte because I could either have a nice full meal, or just have a delicious burger (plus I really liked the staff/owner).
Now that it's gone not sure I have a favorite...but I have gotten to like Belleville a lot (I like Stone Park but it's way too expensive...that's a once a year deal for me).
I like Belleville because I love the mussels, love the burger...and the rest of the food is really good too. Also - I've never had any problems with service - very friendly waitstaff. -
I think it's impossible to pick one. But, I'll vote Applewood for the best overall experience (dinner only), RAchel's for the best burrito, Ale House for the nicest bar food and 'tender, Mr. Wonton for delivery chinese, Bar Toto for casual Italian, 12th St Grill for Casual dinner (bar area)....
-
Indeed, so tough to pick a single favorite - love Miracle Grill, if only for the chipotle mayo, but I gotta go with JPan as my #1.
-
^^ If you notice, I didn't pick a number one either, i find it a bit hard. Though, if I was forced to say, I would have to say Jpan also, just love that place!

Applewood for dinner.
Hunan Delight for Chinese.
Kinara for Indian.
Friends for pizza and garlic knots.
Steinhof for brunch. -
for dinner, bogota

I spent my teenage and college years in Miami and, when I moved back up here, tried every "Latin" restaurant and found them, not only lacking foodwise, but lacking the familial warmth that I was so used to in Miami.
It was a few years ago that an awning went up on 5th avenue that showed promise. My wife started hounding the place asking when they were opening, etc. We were there on about the third night. While the food needed some work, we struck up a conversation with the owners.
Over the years, that conversation led to a friendship, and I can tell you that I know of no one who lives their restaurant more than the owners of Bogota Bistro. It doesn't matter how big the crowds get. They're always thinking about how they could get better in every way, from food to service to anything else. And it shows. When they first opened, I may have told you to stick to the apps. A few years later, everything they serve you is absolutely top-notch....and they take chances with their specials on a nightly basis.
I've been to parties there, held parties there....this was, and is, the place I longed for when I first moved here, and will continue to be. They deserve every last damn bit of the success they've obtained, and I hope they continue to grow even stronger in years to come. -
i agree. and some damn good fish tacos

know what's funny about that? it's probably the one thing on the menu i don't care for. i don't get it. it's breaded fish wrapped in tortillas.

a strawberry caprioska
arepa de choclo with cheese
an empanada (pick any one, really)
skirt steak, plantain-crusted chicken or, if feeling particularly virtuous, the madre selva
flan
walk away happy and very full.
-
always have flan. and the cilantro mashed potatoes and ceviche. and frozen passionfruit margaritas.
now stop making me so hungry, i just lost 14 pounds and plan to keep it off -
Great thread - I can't believe this board hasn't addressed this topic at length before this..
I say we start a thread called: "Favourite brooklynian poster and why?... also, least favourite, and why?"
You must cite examples and specifics in order to be considered legit. For example, new2hood does a nice job above by hedging and conditionalizing his answer.... flexichick does not. -
we all know *I* am your favourite, DR

Brunch = Miracle Grill
And, DR, whatever, either list your favorite restaurant or move on -

Applewood or Al di La for a nice night out kind of place.
If you go to Al di La, please try the Spaghetti and Clams. It's the best I've ever had, save for maybe when I was in Italy.
But for my weekly standby (comfortable shoe) type place...my favorite is Bar Toto. I'm there at least once a week. Always solid food, comfortable atmosphere and inexpensive. -

Seriously? I've had their clam sauce twice and WAY prefer my own (and not bc I'm a narcissist- it's really better. theirs needs some serious seasoning.)
