Er... no, I don't know what. What's opening on Flatbush?

(me = oblivious, in need of MORE CAFFEINE.)

    american apparel.

What is opening on Flatbush? You mean where the movie theater used to be? If not, does anyone know what's going on there?

And since we're on the topic of hipster clothing, here's a fun fact: The owner of Urban Outfitters is a big Rick Santorum supporter. I personally like my homosexuality with a side of man-on-horse action and will be forced to do all my shopping at H&M from now on.

    *Totally kidding. H&M is crap.
  • I see my q has already been answered. Also, Ewwwww.

I know that most guys have no problem looking at young, nubile, barely dressed Asian things but that fetish is out of control. AA, its ad campaign and its disgusting owner all give me the heebies.

Oh yeah. DUH. My bad. I only live, like, a block away from there. Oy.
  • I too pegged my jeans, sometimes with a safety pin. it was what us skater kids did, partly to keep your jeans from snagging your board when you did tricks.
I recon the kids doing it these days weren't there to do it the first time like soooo many of these lame return to the 80s things, don't they know that the 60s & 70s were way cooler?

Kriss Kross will make you JUMP, JUMP
Damn I forgot about them
  • WARM IT UP KRISS

Did Champion sweatshirts ever leave? I wear one on occasion and I'd hate to think it's the equivalent of Members Only...

    Ever read Eugendes' Middlesex?
  • Are parachute pants next?
  • Carnivore wrote: Are parachute pants next?
    Already spotted, sadly enough.
  • Carnivore wrote: Are parachute pants next?
My parents never let me have parachute pants... too dangerous.
  • Ever read Eugendes' Middlesex?
Three years ago. Were there scantily clad Asian tweeners in that book? I don't remember.

Seriously, I thought that book was lovely. But there is nothing lovely about the upchuck-inducing Dov Charney (http://www.inc.com/magazine/20050901/american-apparel.html).

I think if you own one in every color and wear them everyday, you might be in trouble. In high school the "normal" colors got so tired so we started cutting and tie dying them. The best is when my father bought me a brand new one and I cut it. He thought I was insane.

No, it's just a standard grey. Had it forever, and whatever else you want to say about Champion stuff, it lasts. I also have a bunch of my (non-game) rugby shirts hanging around. I don't wear them, but I figure if I hang on to them they'll come back in style.

why does that not surprise me. owner of company that sells 4.20 t-shirts supports crazy conservative senator. it makes so much sense.

there's a special place in hell for santorum.

the part that makes me super mad about this is not urban outfitters - it's anthropologie! how can that asshat own a store I'd willingly sign my paycheck over to?:cry::cry::cry:

and this, folks, is why I'm going to attempt to sew my own avant garde dress. even if I look stupid, at least I didn't give money to stupid.

    anthropologie too?!

no sewing for me. my mother's frequent trips to jo-ann's when I was a child ruined fabric stores for me. I can barely set foot into one without convulsing.

well, they're owned by the same company, so I'd assume so (urbn and anthro). yeah - I have the same problem with fabric stores. but I'm trying to be all indie about it.
  • Are you guys really planning on boycotting Anthropologie/Urbn? I'm just curious.

The ownership was news to me, and I'm a politics reporter. Honestly, I think the most damage you guys could do is to spread the word -- if it's a question of your integrity, by all means boycott, but if you want the guy to feel it then bad PR is the way to go.

Also, I simply will not believe the pegged jeans trend is back until I see it with mine own eyes. It's just too ugly. Why???

people are shockingly stupid. I've seen tons of tapered and pegged jeans the last few days, now that I'm an ankle-stalker.
  • personally, I'm waiting for the Jerri Blank tight-azz button/flipped-down jeans to come back in style...or whatever they're called....they'd make my thighs look hot!

Usually I'm too busy looking out for dog poo when I'm walking around the hood. Ankle-watch it is from now on.
  • Next: Kriss Kross-style backwards pants.
  • We need some sort of bounty for pictures of hipsters with pegged pants!
  • Agreed - I want photographic evidence, dammit! We should start a PH version of Blue States Lose.
