I need some help finding female dress shoes. Any suggestions on where to find shoes over a size 10 in real life, not online? Does anyone know of a shoe maker?
I don't think a shoe maker can make shoes by Thursday. However, if you want a name for future reference, I can get that for you. A friend has been raving about someone for years. I have asked for the details.
  • scarlett wrote: OK, OK, I do have average size feet at 7 1/2 so I almost always find shoes at DSW, but my mom has all these issues and has to get shoes in 10s when she used to be an 8. And they have to be wide and they have to fit her orthodics. Basically she has to special order those puppies and they aren't pretty. It sucks for her. I hope you can find some cute ones in your size, Brooklynbound!

And, kind of off topic and not trying to be insulting so please don't get mad, but did anyone see Kinky Boots? It's about a small English town shoe factory that starts making really strong high heels and boots suitable for 6'3" men with size 13 wide shoes. Awesome movie. Mougar owns it, borrow from him.
I need to find out where the trannies find the shoes! They rock some nice heels.
  • Wait, is this for a daaaaaaaaaaaate????
  • Oooohhh, BB has a DATE?? Wait...I need to see these shoes. Link please!!
  • hey, take it to chicklynian.

LOL. Nope. Wait. Does Texas count? Ha!
  • Hey Brooklynbound!

There's a shoe store on 39th Street between 5th & 6th Aves in Manhattan that specializes in women's shoes in large sizes. I don't know it's name, and I've never been in, but it looks like they have some ok-ish stuff from the outside - i.e. not all old ladies shoes. If you're close by, have a look.

Wish I'd seen this thread earlier so I could've mentioned it before.

    Good luck!

It is called Tall Size Shoes and is also Claro Shoes on Livingston St which I posted above http://www.clarotallandwide.com/

After a quick Google, I think it might be:
    Dakota Shoes
    46 W 39th St
    New York, NY 10018
    (212) 840-1056

Anyway, if I've got this wrong - it's on the south side of the street...

I think BrooklynJack might be right about the name....
  • Yes, Zappo's is good. I've also found good shoes online at Piperlime. Otherwise, I go to DSW - which is hit or miss b/c I have huge feet (also size 11, I feel your pain; I used to be a petite 9-1/2 but alas, my feet continue to grow) - or even Target. Target shoes won't last a long time but they're cheap and the ones I've bought have been comfy.

The place on Livingston does carry big and wide sizes but I don't like their selection.

    Anbar 60 Reade St New York, NY 10007 - (212) 227-0253

Have up to a size 14s. Got a pair of Mui Mui (Prada) for $30.
Best selection - and organized by COLOR.
Top floor has the basics - black, brown, tan and handbags. DOWNSTAIRS has the reds, blues, gold and DRESS shoes as well as an entire section of larger sizes.

Call to see if they have what you are looking for - they were always very helpful.
  • Brooklynbound - did you get a shipping upgrade notification?
  • Why didn't I get to see the shoes??
  • Nothing yet! :(

Thanks for the info about Tall size. I want to check that out. I may go this evening!
  • I'm very surprised. They've upgraded me every single time. Did you get a tracking number? Have you checked it on UPS?
  • Zappos is the best...and everything has always come the next day
  • OK. I still haven't gotten the shoes. UUUGh. Anyhow, they just upgraded me to VIP status. So now I'll get my items the next day if I order before one. Woo!!
  • WHAT THE HELL? They've never taken so long before.....Ever!
  • They're coming from KY and were just shipped today! Oh well. Now I'll get them the next day.
  • I have been ordering from them forever and I can only remember one time when it took 2 days instead of one....and that's because I just missed the cutoff.

eh....let us know how you like them when they arrive
  • OMG! These look like old lady shoes!!
  • What????? Did they look like the picture? Did you read reviews before you bought?
  • They looked cute online and received high ratings. I'll keep them. Too lazy to send them back.
  • I WANT TO SEE!!!!!!!!!!
