Very Loud Music

A friend of mine lives over there, and I happened to be visiting.
Turns out, a long time owner passed away, a young woman inherits the place and is rarely there. The people who live there, think its the cellar floor, have been chronically assaulting the block whenever warm weather hits for the past couple years.

As it happens, they've also been less than discreet with cannabis consumption, on a mostly family friendly block. According to my friend, requests the music be turned down to personal levels, have gone unheeded. They seem to be oblivious to the attention they are drawing to themselves.


So between the loud music and the pot smells wafting from the house, it has now drawn the attention of the 77th Pct. Some suspect low level dealing may be going on....

The next step appears to have the block folk interact and hold the 77th Pct accountable..... Other blocks get a reasonable response from their Police Pct. . Organize...

The same thing is happening around crooke ave near st paul's. They randomly play music really loudly until very late into the night. Last week, I think they kept the music until around 2am. It's so frustrating.

Also, what is up with all the extreme bass? Don't people like to hear the melody anymore?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most probably if you want relief you will have to move.

I tried for a long time in my neighborhood to get some of the same type of rude noise-making, to cease. I solicited others who lived in my building, leafleted, some of my neighbors in the brownstone/ houses nearby, and went to the cops several times.

I finally moved, and although it was so expensive and painful, one recent visit to my old neighborhood, when I was feeling particularly broke, made me feel the vindication of having made the right and more expensive choice to move. I saw the same exact nonsense occurring that made me leave in the first place.

I wish you all the best, but sadly, most of the time, the people who behave that inconsiderately have no other place to go, and many of the surrounding folks, are often too scared, too busy, or too unconcerned to rally together.

I have heard rare instances where a community board won a neighborhood battle, but take a look at the Atlantic Yards debacle. That board was particularly active and the result was still the same. The likelihood is that you will have to move if you want peace.
