You can look at the music school on Hanson Place (right behind BAM). My sister looked into them for lessons and said they had a good program but were a bit pricier than she wanted

I work with an excellent pianist who lives nearby, and who is currently accepting students for the summer. She is an NYU Masters student and has toured internationally. She lives in Greenpoint, and she teaches at her home, at NYU and will also travel to the students' home. She is a wonderful person and a fantastic pianist, teacher and accompanist. She is very patient and kind, and can teach any level, from brand new beginner to young professional.

Her rates are very reasonable: I believe she is charging only $40 per lesson at her home or at NYU.
