You both need to put some netting over them or the birds will have all your berries. -

I beat the birds yesterday and got the first one, but yeah, those assholes would totally do it. In a week I'll also have cherry tomatoes, basil, thyme and a few other herbs. -
rant: the dog has not been "lethargic" as the vet told me he would be and instead kept me up all night whining and banging his cone collar around his crate. I am never going to get any sleep with this dog.

I've never had a dog actually act lethargic or slowed down in any way after spaying/neutering, and I've had a handful from my own to fosters. Keeping them still was always the hard part. You can't explain to them "no, you can't go rough house with the dog next door b/c it might rip out your stitches."
I've also never had one come home with an e-collar, but I never had a boy puppy, which I've heard are most prone to chewing the stitches.
Baby animals are cute so we have trouble getting mad at them
Rant: garbage men have left one of our building's cans and contractor bags of trash for the third time! That stuff is getting nasty--dirty diapers and old food. Can I call 311 about this? -

Maybe re-bag it so it's not in a contractor's bag. Garbage men are wary of contractor's bags. -
We've never had trouble with the bags and tons of people only put their trash out that way--this one is very light but apparently something very large. The trash guys not taking cans has become the norm. I think they just grab one and forget about the other. And when they do take them, they leave no where near where they started. Sometimes I have to walk several blocks in either direction to find them.
What really pisses me off is when they do take the trash (which generally happens while I take the dog to off-leash), someone else then dumps their crap in it. That's littering folks! I don't want your (untied) bag of dog shit or half-full coffee or worse, someone else's bags of trash, outside of my window. If you can't make it another two [short] blocks to a city can, don't have a dog or don't carry breakfast with you on your commute.
This is procrastination ranting, to avoid a school paper I have no interest in

Aw. Well the good news is Bob Barker would be proud of you. The bad news is maybe you should have gotten a big ole floppy dog who just chills, like a mountain dog! -
