hi,

where is a good place to buy lox in PS? sorry, i'm new. :)

Comments

  • or even just a good fish market?
  • zOMG TEH PARK SLOPE FOOD CO-OP

Seriously, though, I find either of the fish markets on 7th av. and 3rd street to be fine (and convenient) for everyday stuff.

Lox I get at Terrace Bagels, but that might be a little out of your way depending on where you live. Not sure about the bagel places on 7th.

In PS I've only been to the Bagel place on 7th ave and 5th street (I forget the name). The lox was good last weekend when I had it.

PPW and what? I've never seen the place...
  • Like 17th, after the circle in Windsor Terrace

PPW btw. 16th and Windsor - close to Farrell's, but on the other side of the street

I believe you're referring to La Bagel Delight. I agree - pretty decent bagels and lox there. There's also another on 7th between Carroll and President.
  • A good place for smoked salmon in the Slope is Blue Apron on Union and 7th.

The best place in the city is Zabars, Fairway, or my favorite - Russ and Daughters.
  • yay for russ and daughters! the best ever! and, less frequently mentioned, the home of life-changingly good cream cheese.

so, zura 04, get on the F train and get off at 2nd ave. you won't be sorry.

  • International Taste on 7th Avenue between Garfield and Carroll is good. They also have great bagels.
  • Subject: Such a deal!

Bagel delight (7th Ave. & 5th st.) has a great deal on weekends.
I believe you get one-half pound of lox, a dozen bagels and 1/2 pound of
    cream cheese for $19.99.

The Food Co-op has great lox at great prices.

If you plan on feeding a crowd it is worth a trip to Costco where you
can get a very large package for a fraction of the normal lox price.

Already covered. On these here boards it is assumed that whatever any entity in the world can do - food related or not - the Park Slope Food Co-op can do better.

We strictly discuss the second place winners.
  • Indeed the Coop does much better, but, what if you're not a member and time is of the essence? I wonder if having someone pay you to smuggle Coop food is a lucrative side business.
  • The Coop has an elite counter-intelligence and anti-smuggling operation, and you would be punished should you attempt it.

Only Chuck Norris has successfully purchased food for another person at the Coop.

    I've said too much already.
  • LATE BREAKING NEWS -

Drano has been reported missing - taken from his home. Witness report masked assailants grabbed Drano covered his head in recycled paper bag and threw him into a double wide stroller and dumped into a mid-sized Volvo. Witness report seeing glow in the dark vests but the words were covered in black duct tape.

(Sorry couldn't pass that up - I love ya coop people :) )
  • Not just lox, but meats too. I just bought some steaks at Costco that were a third the price of Union Market. I BBQ'd some up last night and mmmmmmmmm good!
