Here's how we parent in Prospect Heights!

Hmm, funny. I don't tend to focus on the other guests at the bars I frequent, other than those I came to socialize with....

It all disgusts me. Don't get me started on kids on the Vegas strip in casinos. -

CRAP, i am in kid overload. time to leave park slope, i think i have had enough
Yeah and what's with the Asian population? I swear they're friggin' everywhere in the Slope. Walking around, shopping, going to restaurants, drinking in bars. Crying because someone stole their car. CRAP, I am in Asian overload.
PS - To any other haters - just substitute Asian with any other group of people you despise whose only sin is living their lives and minding their own business.
I love mad libs, but must point out that no one can not decide to be born Asian and that some people can decide to increase our human population. Most parents can decide to have babies and, in some cases, parents can decide to have nannies. -

As for the strollers, I now have strong feelings. I had a cast on my leg. A huge, obvious cast that had me waddling around and mom's with strollers (never the one's that are pretty obviously nannies) would roll right over it!! WTF? Or not even attempt to make room on the sidewalk.
And babies in bars. My bf rarely notices or cares about what's going on around us, but we went out for dinner at Sidecar the other night and after seeing two couples with 4 or 5 little kids/toddlers for a while, he actually said "I didn't really think kids in bars was a bad idea until I saw that." Kids had made a huge mess around the table, two strollers were cramming folks at the bar, and the kids were literally hanging off the doors and windows, making it hard for people trying to use the door and all the while, one mom was just doing that "look how cute and funny they are" smile while watching them, never telling them to stop kicking the door. Gah.
A baby sleeping probably would be hard to notice unless it's crying or the situation is just odd (like the one Carmen mentioned) but a handful of kids making a mess and bothering other patrons is incredibly rude/thoughtless on the part of the parents. It's not like these bars are the only places to go to around here. -

Apparently I must point out that if a poster was making comments about Asians in general,
they would, justifiably, get soundly and vigorously verbally abused by other posters.
That ITS OK to stereotype "stroller moms" or "Park slopers" is the issue.
Imagine the uproar if I lumped "crown heighters" into a deragatory statement.
smell the hypocrisy ?

sorry, babies and/or kids don't belong in bars, period! Bars are for boozing it up and being raucous/having a good time, i don't want to be sitting in a bar and have to worry that there is a child next to me, it is totally out of line IMO. the parents need to get a babysitter if they want to hang in a bar, especially at night.
I agree. If you must drink with your kid right there, pick up a six pack and do it at home. Babies/ kids have no place in a bar. -

But the babies are here now - so unless you get legislation passed that would keep all babies locked inside their homes, unseen and unheard by the public, until the age of...???...you, my friend, are SOL.
Bitching about another bunch of human beings being out in public is like bitching about...well, bitching about another bunch of human beings being out in public.
I assume such sentiments are just jokes or the result of a bad day. Otherwise, anyone who really feels that way is either dumb or batshit crazy. -

I would be 100% supportive of an effort to ban ALL annoying people from bars regardless of age. Now that would make my evenings out much more fun! -
If I don't want to be among annoying people I will stay home.
