Safety on Eastern Parkway — Brooklynian

Safety on Eastern Parkway

Hi,

I've been reading some old threads about safety concerns/gang activity in CH. I'm looking at moving to EP between Classon and Franklin. I've been in the area at night (seems all my friends live in PH...), and have a decent sense of what Washington is like at night. But I'm reading now that there are block-specific concerns and hangouts. (No surprise).

i'm wondering what folks' experience is walking down EP late at night - say between 11pm and 1am. Definitely walking east from the EP 2/3 stop, but even starting further west, like GAP or Vanderbilt

Thanks

  • i live on that block; it's fine; & thank you for calling it CH.
  • I also live on that block, and while I wouldn't say that you're totally out of the woods walking by yourself after 10-11 pm, I wouldn't say it's all that sketchy. The block in general is quite safe.
  • You're fine on Eastern Parkway at that hour - Franklin Ave is what you need to worry about.
  • I walk my dogs in that area around that time every night. It's well traveled and well lit. No problems.
