  • Subject: pool

you can use any YMCA pool, atlantic and court is close, and nice.
  • I hear the pool at Y on 9th street is re-opened.
  • The Red Hook pool is very nice, though the locker rooms/showers aren't very nice. There is also a public pool in Sunset Park around 45th street and 5th Avenue.
  • the pool at the Y is not opened yet...just call them and it wont be open for another month at least...
    will try Red Hook one!
    thanx!
  • Sounds typical for the Y..My son called 10 days ago..they told him it would be open this week.
  • Subject: the y versus redhook

it's like apples and oranges...depends what you are going for. one is indoors, one is out, etc..
  • I was at the Y today and the pool is definitely still closed and the "go to other YMCA pools" signs were everywhere still.
  • red hook pool is not quite open yet either. the last time i checked, they said the pool will open on june 27th.
  • The pool off 3rd ave might be a little closer depending on what part of Park Slope you are

It is also called the Double D Pool because it is between Degraw and Douglas

It is much smaller than Red Hook

There are also pools at John Jay HS and the Garfield Temple.
  • hmm...that one is also outdoor and opens late june..
    it's really frustrating ...
the Y promised it would be opened by the end of May...it's been two months now... not to mention all the times they closed it before without any notice...
  • Latest meeting at the 9th street Y regarding the pool said that it will open around June 22nd. In the meantime, you can use your Y membership card to go to any Y in the city. The Dodge Y at Atlantic and Court has a great pool and Trader Joes is right across the street as an added bonus.
I've been swimming at the Dodge since 9th street pool closed and it will be hard to return to that little pool when it reopens. People have also raved about the McBurney Y's pool at 14th street in the city.
