Quiet drinking south slope--anybody?

  • I'm confused about the intention here as well, but it could be read as a sarcastic comment about how the always same people (myself included) often hijack every thread and turn it into a personal conversation with inside remarks, the kind that belongs on Facebook.
So when the OP joins a Brooklynian happy hour (s)he may be feeling like the only newbie at the bar.

Catch 22: We do actually make it look like we're the only ones on the board (!), and on the other hand the OP will never meet anyone or belong to the group if (s)he doesn't occasionally join us.

    banned for not guessing.
  • I'd go. If you pick a spot on a Friday or Saturday night, I'd show up. :) You don't have to talk to me. I slur a lot so no one understands me anyway.
  • I just arrived, we talkin bout beer here?
  • Gretch is super nice, I remember meeting her at the gate during the barcrawl last year. I can see how we can be kind of an intimidating bunch- she and I talked a lot when we met (and she met a bunch of you!) If you saw a pic youd know who she is, and for the record her english is fine in person...

This is kind of what I thought when reading this, though I didn't think it was meant as a sarcastic comment but rather was just a possibly sorta shy person interested in creating an environment they'd be more comfortable in. Which, well, let's just say I totally understand.

At any rate - I'd be up for doing the south slope low pressure hangout thing. And if it turns into scrabble in the corner like someone else mentioned - I'd be happy about that, too. :)
  • now...somebody mentioned orgies a while ago and then the conversation went downhill from there...
can you go back to that part?
    it was more fun....
  • Welcome leeence!
  • Ooh fuck. Whynot made a new friend.

You know you are the latest addition to my BFF collection. Nobody else took the quiz after you on Facebook. Congratulations.

  • thank you!
  • Oh, hello Carmen, I remember you too! Thanks for the comment. I'd probably remember more people when I see them in person, I am sure.
I am actually interested in trying the new bar opening up on the corner of 16th and 5th. If anybody want to go, we can pick a date. I heard that the bar was supposed to open at the end of May, but yesterday when I passed by it was not ready yet. And we all could have a chat, of course.
  • 16th street and 5th avenue.

are you talking about black horse, gretch? i'd be willing to check it out with you. i hear it's going to be a standard pub-type place, but for the slope that's almost exotic. it should be opening any second now, if it hasn't already.
  • Anytime anyone wants to grab a bottle and drink with me just throw me a PM, pub or no pub.

We have one. In your house. You didn't notice?
  • golly, meredith, ANY time? i wish i'd known you when i was in college. i'd really have appreciated someone like you when i was young and hale and convinced that it wasn't worth leaving my room if i couldn't do at least one shot first.

explains why Dude won't go in there anymore.
  • Only weirdos like an audience.
  • True, the rest like to be in the audience.
  • Hi all, I think Black Hose Pub ( I believe that is the name?) look ready for open, but I do not know when exactily yet. We can pick a date when its open. I will post here or email thouse who showed interest!
  • i talked to someone this weekend who knows one of the owners of black horse. the pub itself is ready and the liquor license is in order, etc., etc., they're just waiting for the city to give them some kind of final clearance (i don't know enough about the restaurant business to explain it). they're thinking they'll be ready to go at the end of this month.
  • Black Hose Pub? I can definitely get on board!
  • i hope someone has spellchecked the sign, or they are going to attract a clientele quite different from the one they are likely expecting. or maybe several distinct clienteles, depending on whether "black hose" makes you think of garters and stockings or, um . . . other things.
  • Uh...that's not why Scarlett is interested!
  • *gasp* i'd never have suggested it was! but you have to admit that the misspelled title is a little more intriguing than the actual title.
