FREE: completely intact, somewhat nice Giant Sedona Bicycle
Around 12:15 AM on Wednesday, June 3rd I found a bicycle at Grand Army Plaza.
"very out of place"
No one was around.
I waited near it for about 10 minutes.
It was unlocked and leaning against a bench.
It is intact, bike light, lock around seat, etc
....leading me to believe you left it unlocked somewhere (library? Park?), then someone swiped it.
This is a nice bike ...alloy frame, mountain bike styling, 21 speed etc.
...if it is YOUR bike, tell me more about it and it will be promptly returned. PM me.
I will keep this bike for a week, and if no one steps forward I will give it away at the next "midnight bike ride".
If this is not your bike and you need a bike, come to the next midnight bike ride..... don't try to convince me that this is your bike if it isn't!
This same ad will also be posted on craigslist
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/laf/1202749765.html
....I do not need or want this bike.
I want this bike to go to its owner, or someone who needs a bike.

one week has now past, with no responses here or on cragslist, and its now time for me to give away this bike.....
It's a female style bike ...so it has the frame in this photo. It is intact, but clearly used.

Want the bike? Write me a short (less than 100 word) essay on how you will use this bike to effect global change. Submissions are due by Thursday. Winner gets the bike for free.
Mods ...if you are bored, please move to lounge. -
Haiku for a free bike:
I am getting plump
Need to fit into my jeans
Alas I am poor
So there you go
Oh shit1 the global change part! OK
Haiku for global change on a bike:
I had a Chevy
I drove it down the freeway
A Time for a Change!!
Ps... then midnight rides would be possible.... -
So far Mama is ahead! ....although we only have one entry.
C'mon, lurkers, regulars and general misfits... you know you want this bike!
I know I want this bike out of my living room. -
Whyot had a bike he hated.
In order to have his hate sated,
He put it on Craigslist
got not answer, and was pissed
to keep it, it's surely fated.
I don't want the goddamn bike. -
The irish girl, she is so jaded.
She cleans her house unabated.
....I've already got one interested person. -

Lame! You must complete the limerick.
She cleans her house unabated.

Is Whynot invited? his secret wish he confided...
No fucking way. -
I already have the bike ...I don't have to haiku
-
I don't want the bike, but I think this thread will turn out to be more fun than I'd've thought!
(I think Mama should have it so she can join in the midnight bike rides.) -
I have a friend at work who does not make a lot of money and lives in Corona Queens who wants to start biking with is wife in the park and this would save him some cash so he could afford to buy a bicycle for himself.

Whynot doesn't care about the poor. Unless they can haiku. -

Correct.
Your friend needs to produce a haiku by midnight, or else it goes to mama. -
There once was a co-worker of Meredithb’s
Who heard that whynot was giving a bicycle away for free
Although he wanted a haiku
A limerick was the best he could do
So here’s hoping he gives the bicycle to me. -

WINNER! Everyone knows limericks trump haikus.
Who heard that why not was giving a bicycle away for free
Although he wanted a haiku
A limerick was the best he could do
So here’s hoping he gives the bicycle to me. -
How about before you give it away , you let me borrow it this Saturday at 10am? I wanna go for a bike ride in Prospect Park.
If anyone wants to come along , let me know. -
No way Meridith. Your "friend" would have to log on and post it himself. If he can't even put up that effort, why does he deserve the bike!
I had a bike when I was four
that alas I have no more
I rode it everywhere
from here to there
Now give me that damn bike whynot!!
-
Together we slowly ride
Flushing Meadow Park
Upon us two the sun smiles -
I just want to borrow the bike on Saturday
After that , go ahead and give it away
Mamacita is my girl and Meridithb's my ride
So , I can't really choose a side
Throw the names in a hat and draw , yo
To the winner's house the bike will go. -
Give the bike to the poor kid,
His life does suck.
He is forced to live in Queens
and work with Meredith for a buck. -

Em, fear not, you can borrow Mrs. Whynot's, mine, or one of our neighbors.

...Mama remains ahead on the free bike -
Mamacita wrote: If he can't even put up that effort, why does he deserve the bike!
He doesn't feel he belonsg on this forum so he has bowed out.
I wrote those "poems" anyway. -
You should probably disclose that the winner of the bike will be required to attend the first NYC World Naked Bike Ride, tomorrow at 5pm. http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org/ (slightly NSFW).
-
mama gets the bike, what she does with it is up to her.
-
But the naked bike ride is all about World Change! And really bad scrapes and bruises if you fall!
-
WHOO HOOO! Just picked up the bike! Problem is where to store it :-k
Howdy, Stranger!
