I heard the lease was signed today for a new Korean restaurant on Vanderbilt Ave. from a very reliable source. Very excited about it! That's all I know right now, will try to find out more details. :D

Oh my god! I am so completely excited about this. Do we know anything more? I could literally eat Korean every day. Where on Vanderbilt? Real Korean or some kind of fancy Korean? I'll take either, frankly. This will really put Vanderbilt on the map. Ain't much (any?) Korean in Bklyn.
  • That is fan-friggin-tastic! I am unbelievably psyched about this! :D :!:

Any info on the owners/chef (previous restaurants, etc.)?
  • WOW! Let's just hope that they're a little bit faster opening than other establishments that I could name.

I hear it's a Korean bbq joint from the guy from Soda and the gal from Le Gamin.

This makes me anxious. Are either of them Korean? I would like to hear that some Koreans are involved.
  • The Le Gamin woman is Asian. Is she Korean?

I assumed crunkyteen was merely reporting who he heard it from. Or are you kidding? :?
  • crunkyteen got it right. Kathy is Korean. It's supposed to open September, October at the latest. I'm thrilled about it. Corner of Vanderbilt and St. Marks. I heard tonight that it's going to be Korean/Asian cuisine. :P
  • let's hope it's better than the Indian place. I was excited about those guys too.

At least that place generated one of the funniest posts on the DH blog ever:

Its existence is justified by that alone.
  • There is a god. I'd been kind of annoyed that there's seemingly a new Thai place every week in Brooklyn, but rarely any other kinds of Asian cuisine.

    What's next, Malaysian?!

Not in our neighborhood yet, but there is a great Malaysian restaurant in Bay Ridge- Nyonya. It's a sister restaurant of the one on Grand St in Manhattan.
