Baseball/softball players- Trying to locate someone!!!
Hope one of you guys can help out with this. Inner City Little League is the little league that covers Ft. Green, Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy and Brownsville. The league plays its games in Thompkins Park and PS 309 in Bed-Stuy and currently has over 100 kids ages 4-13 who are participating this spring. The opening day parade and celebration were scheduled for last week but were rained out due to the weather, and subsequently postponed to this Saturday.
We just learned that the Parks Department has given a permit to a guy by the name of Bob Behr to hold a practice on the diamond at Thompkins Park this Saturday, which had been scheduled as the rain day for the opening day celebration. The permit is for 7am -1 pm which means that opening day would have to be cancelled again.
The league has been trying to get in touch with Mr. Behr to see if we can negotiate some way for us both to use the field on Saturday. Ideally, we like to see if he could move his practice later so that we can have a freshly groomed and painted field for the opening day celebration. If that's not possible the league would offer PS 309 as an alternate location for Mr Behr's practice (309 has a brand-new artificial turf field).
Unfortunately, the Parks Department hasn't been very helpful in trying to resolve this and won't give us Mr. Behr's contact info. All we know is that he is from Ft. Green and that this is the only permit he has submitted for the park for the balance of the summer. If anyone knows this person, can you PM me? The kids are all pretty bummed about the delay in the start of the season, and if the league has to push it back another week, games will have to be cancelled.

Yeah, that was earlier this week. We're pretty much down to desperation methods now...
