Website says "closed for renovation".

Damn, it's my fault....I never got to eat there.

Must have sold. Who knows, the new joint may be keeping the same formula. Their brunch was great.

There was a sign a couple weeks ago sayng closed until the 9th for vacation. Now they're "renovating?" Sad. That guy loved that spot. Always thought their food was good if a bit pricey, but the garden was great and the owner made a mean Manhattan for me on many a winter night.

Subject: oh well
good, but wickedly overpriced. but then again, most are. -
New owners will serve Mexican cuisine per Chowhound.
-
Great...more Mexican. Just what is exactly not needed.
-
there isn't really good mexican on 7th ave south of 9th...if they do it right, i'll be happy
-
Mexican? Sigh. Only if they have booze.
I liked Cornbread Cafe anyway. I miss that one. -
I liked the CornBread place as well.. mourning for restaurants gone.

that's a good point....La Taq is ok....and I hear chiles& chocolate is good -
Yummy Taco!

i still vote clemens in as some of the best mexican i've ever eaten.
bash me all you want, i'm no big foodie. however, i have brought a couple of friends there who are professional chefs/food stylists and they have agreed.
and the grande burrito is as big as my head. and their flan rocks -
clemens is definitely NOT good mexican. they add sour cream to their guacamole - which is a cheap trick to spread it out....I'll eat there in a pinch, but it's no great shakes.
-
have never had their guac with anything but guac in it.

if that guac was spooned out of their metal tin in the front display, it was thinned out with sour cream and just not that tasty. -
If you want good Mexican go to Fifth Ave (Jirasol Bakery on 21st or, of course, Tacos Nuevos Mexico).
I went to Fette Sau in Williamsburg last weekend and had some amazing BBQ...why is there nothing like that in the Slope? -
Liked Little D a lot; it will be missed, though it was pretty pathetic in there the last few months (food-spotted menus, slipping service, some of the food was edible instead of good).
I'm all up for good Mexican. Chiles and Chocolate in the North Slope has some great mole but I prefer delivery over dining in at their depressing storefront. -
Maria's, Chiles y Chocolate, Barrio, and a few others...
Christ, wtf do you people want/need to qualify as "good"? In 95% of the country and probably 99% of the world those places would qualify as "good". And please, save your meal stories from your trip to Mexico/Spain/Morocco from 6 years ago. I've been - the food here is better on the whole.
Are your palates that sophisticated or is it simply... well, I'll bite my tongue for once.
Howdy, Stranger!
