Forget cross-boro dating, would you date outside your hood?
According to this blog, people have trouble leaving BK to date in the city, Jersey etc but I know at least one person who won't even consider leaving their Brooklyn nabe for love.

um, that sounds crazy to me. i'm constantly roaming all over the city as it is doing things by myself, so of course i'd be willing to hop on the subway or whatever to spend time with someone i really liked. everyone in park slope is already married with a rugrat, anyway.
i do restrict my stalking to the immediate neighborhood, though. if john hodgman packs up his clan and moves to greenpoint, i'll miss them, but not enough to waste a sunday morning on the g train. -
I'm not even willing to leave my house :-)
-
I had a friend who believed that anything longer than a subway ride was considered a long-distance relationship.
-
I'd date anyone from anywhere except the upper east side.

I hate the UES. I don't want to go to Williamsburg either. -
South Brooklyn only. No Manhattan, no Godforesaken Queens. I don't travel.

The chances of me meeting someone over 30 in Williamsburg are slim. So I'm not worried about it. Plus their probably from Bushwick, which is cool. -
cool or not, getting there is a major pain in the ass

We need to hang, I have wheels and am a professional drunk driver. -
oh hellz yea. I can't date someone who lives someplace that takes an hour to get to on the subway, or requires more than one transfer.
but she has to live some distance a way. I can't be bumping into her everywhere I go. A guy's gotta have room to breathe. -
I don't date. So I wouldn't know. I supposed I'd use PATH, Metro North, and LIRR. Love has no boundaries after all, right?

I only need to go down into the basement.

I met my wife at swing dancing. Lots of people do social partner dancing and I know several that have gotten married. You will meet people in there 20's to 90's and many of them are single. And even if you aren't interested in dating you meet lots of nice people. -

through friends, online, via work (usually not a good idea), while pursuing hobbies (yoga, Spanish lessons,at the park etc.), in grocery stores, on the train, Brooklynian....you can meet people anywhere if you are in the mood and open to it
<----currently not so much in the mood -

Yes, you can meet "people" anywhere but people you actually want to date? Not so much in NYC.
I only date OUTSIDE the 5 boroughs (Chicago, Boston, Scotland, etc.) - that way you're always excited to see them and they don't get underfoot.

I'm moving! F this all! It's impossible.

i'm lucking if i could find a girl on mars
.
asian guys are going extinct. -
Shit, I hate dating so the farther away a guy is the better.
-
This is not a good thread to read after many drinks.
-
If it requires more effort then me opening my front door to escort them in and out, it's not worth it to me.

Heck. I like Asian guys too. Unfortunately they think they're too good for me like all men!
-
That's because you're really too good for them!!!
-
next time you guys see a asian guy just walk to up to one, most likely single and untaken
. make sure they aren't free off the boat. aka make sure he is americanized
. -
Scarlett and I saw the most handsome Asian man on the train one night. And he gave up his seat for someone else. Sweet, too!
-

Yep, Flexi speak truth! Just smile and be open. In my single days I met people everywhere. speaking of grocery stores the Marina Safeway in San Francisco was know for its meet market by both gays and straights, get 1/2 gallon of milk and a date from Friday Night.
The trick that worked for me best though was to quit looking and just do the things I wanted to do, I took up ballroom dancing.
Have you checked out meetup.com for a group with your interests? It sin't a singles thing but there are singles -

I forgot about that! I ALWAYS clock the ring finger. And, unfortunately for me, 9 out of 10 guys I find attractive have a ring. BOOOO!! -

So I guess what you're actually saying is "All the good ones are taken"?
Howdy, Stranger!
