good idea. thank you! What is usual rent price for a studio do you think? Because the ones I have found (obv. all in CH!) are around 900-1200.

The problem with CH is that for most of the neighborhood, the Brooklyn College trip will be a hassle. I do think you could widen your search a little to include the CH area of St John's to the north, President to the south, Washington to the west, and NY Avenue to the east. That area you'll still be a reasonable walk to the 2 or the 5 trains which will take you out to Brooklyn College. You are only talking about moving one or two train stops further into Brooklyn, a total of about a half a mile.
Now, being completely honest, you'll find some really nice blocks in there and some that are somewhat skechy. However, you'll still be fairly close to the PH amenities (museum, library, Prospect Park) and a reasonable walk, subway or bus ride to the strips on Vanderbilt and Washington. Not sure where you are moving from, but if you are nearby and can come walk about that would be your best bet. -
I am moving from LA.
So its going to be hard to get there with alot of time beforehand to check out places. But thank you for the tip. I will definetly go ahead and do that. I saw Bushwick was also "nearby" on the map. Any chance this area runs near to the trains getting to Brooklyn College? -
Nope. You are pretty much limited to the 2 and 5 trains out to BC. Coming from Bushwick, you would be looking at taking the bus out to Brooklyn College. You'd need to get on the B44, which has its terminus somewhere in the area of Broadway and Lee. If you aren't walking distance to the 44 you'd have to transfer, but there is no way that trip is anything less than a solid hour, maybe more, by bus from Bushwick.
What you may want to do is see if you can track down on line a map that has the subway/bus lines overlaid on the street grid. Then you can see where the train runs and try to find housing based on what neighborhoods you are already looking at as well as proximity to the area you need to get to.
