Best martini in the slope — Brooklynian

Best martini in the slope

carmen
edited November -1 in Park Slope
My mom and sister are coming to visit and both of them love classic, dirty gin martinis (which I don't drink, yech.) Is there any place in the neighborhood to get a GREAT martini? We'll venture into the city if someone has an epic suggestion...

  • Great question!! I would love to know the answer to this as well. Bonus points if you name a bar in Park Slope that is not Union Hall.
  • Judging by their excellent gin gimlet, I'll bet Weather Up makes an excellent gin martini too. Go on a Thursday if you also want cold fried chicken and oysters
  • Brooklyn Social on Smith and Carroll will impress mom and sis.

The missus and I have been going out for Friday martinis for the past few summers and have had them in many places in the Slope and beyond. There are plenty of pretty good places to go but if I had only one to pick I'd go with Social.
  • South end: Ellis and Quarter both make really interesting martinis and they have good gin. Have also had good ones at Bar Toto, Bar Reis and Belleville, but it totally depends on the time and bartender. Brooklyn Social was really fun during the bar crawl and Weather Up does have great drinks, but they're not in your few block radius! :) if you do want Manhattan cocktail spots, I know some great ones.
  • i second weather up.

    they make fantastic drinks.
  • I guess Weather Up is actually Prospect Heights, but it's worth going the extra few blocks. Not cheap though
  • Yeah, nothing in Park Slope, but Weather Up in PH, or Brooklyn Social or Clover Club, both on Smith St should fit the bill.
  • I fear Carny will kick my butt, but I dare say that Clover Club may have better drinks than Weather up. Yet equal in the nice decor.

    ------ running aways!

That's fine. Less crowded for me!
  • clover club has HORRENDOUS service.

i will never go back, despite the good drinks.

i've heard multiple people say they've had problems there.
  • High Dive. In particular, the bartender named Kirk, usually there during the day/ early evening.
  • Stone Park Café. No bad bartenders there.
  • quarter or sidecar or blue ribbon in the slope.

    clover club in caroll gardens.

    trust me, I am a bartender. :-)
  • Brooklyn Social hands down.
