Store Rent
A friend is interested in opening a restaurant in park slope (i know, i know but its a great idea, really).
any idea what the landlords on 7th are asking for rent or how to go about finding it out.
For instance - the elementi space, or the old la bagel delight space, Nono(sp?), or even the japanese space next to moim that has the dreaded closed for renovations sign?

the nono space is already rented out.
there's a nice space for rent next to santa fe grill on 7th between lincoln and berkeley. it used to be trade winds furniture. i believe berkeley heights real estate has that listing if i remember correctly from the sign.
ideal properties on the corner of berkeley and 7th also has quite a few commercial listings on their website i've noticed.

if youre just looking for casual ballparks look at a few websites as suggested.
if youre friend wants HIGHLY specific details, your friend should make a few calls because there will be highly specific questions that you wont be able to answer.
keep in mind some spaces just wont take food.
similiarly a landlord might be thrilled about a restaurant
but not want a place that plans to mutate into a bar at midnite.
its all very specific. -
i was saying Boo-urns

thanks, not sure what boo-urns means though

For a resturant I beileve 5th avenue would be much better for 2 big reasons:
1. 5th avenue has a lot of resturants and many who go out to eat and are not sure where to go just walk down fifth.
2. Rent is much cheaper. On 7th expect to pay $100-$125 per sq foot per year. a 2000 sq foot resturant at a rent of $100 per sq foot is paying $200,000 per year in rent alone.
On 5th avenue the average rent is $70-$90 per sq foot. That same 2000 sq foot resturant at $70 per sq foot will pay $140,000 per year.
Additionaly, most spaces will not allow cooking so it won't be as easy to find a space.
Best of luck........ -
there are many restaurants on 7th which seem do quite well and are a cut above the rest:
olive vine
chiles and chocolates
barrio
beer table
oshima
mr. wonton
mango thai
cafe grumpy just opened on 7th
hanco vietnamese just opened on 7th
the new turkish place is opening on 7th
santa fe grill is always packed (although i don't love it)
lemongrass is usually packed (don't love it either)
i'm sure there are some landlords on 7th desperate enough to strike a deal on rent, if this person really would like to open something on 7th (which i think would be quite welcome for many) -
I think that you just have to check craigslist. Business for sale or commercial.

boo urns is a simpsons line
-
I read the new Turkish place on 7th is going for $7500 a month.
