new deli on Classon and Lincoln
So sparkling clean.
Nice owners have been fixing up the space since November. Before that, it was obviously the drug corner. Not so much now, I don't think. Owner told me this morning: "If there's something you want, tell me and I will stock it."
Yummy coffee.
New York Times.
Spanish and American food cooked in the back.
Grapes and oranges in the deli case in the front (as well as bacon).
SO CLEAN. Like, the cleanest place in at least a 10-block radius.
Free delivery.
Oh, please, little deli and nice owners across the street--please stay in business.

Oh, I know! the owner is so nice, and i too am astounded by the sparkling cleanliness, and I was impressed to see actual fruit in the deli case (oranges, apples, and grapes!). My bf was talking to John (the owner) and he said eventually there will be more stuff downstairs.

Even though I don't live in that immediate area, I'll have to stroll over and give these guys some business (maybe this Sunday's NYT). I'm happy to see that new businesses are arriving.
Now, if the storefronts in that huge building on the SE corner of Classon and E. Pkwy would only get rented by other businesses...(preferrably a bar - I'm sick of drinking in the same 3 or 4 places, dammit!)
Any suggestions on names? I propose the following:
The Classon Inn
The Lincoln Lounge
The Parkway Pub
The Crown Jewel
Mort's Place
Casper's
The Glass Projectile (no offense intended here, seriously) -
The Classy Dame
-
How is this deli doing? Is it living up to everyone's hopes?

I went there 2 weeks ago and got egg on a roll
when i got to work i threw up
I went back this morning and got a nasty ass bagel and felt sick when I got to work but didn't throw up.
F that place -
Hmm... interesting. I am happy with their deli (I had a ham and cheese sandwich with no ill effects). Haven't eaten anything else there from the deli except a muffin that was just mediocre. Their prices are reasonable, the expiration dates are reasonable... and the owners are still lovely. They are trying to get a flower license, which I would very much appreciate.

In other words: I got dime bags and nickel bags, but I can also bring in the real sh*t. Like for your white line urges I recommend some cane.
If it opens in that part of the ghetto, it will certainly breed drugs. Just my conservative repukeblican extreme right christian opinion, HEHE -
Is this place still open? Just wondering. I love to hear about successful new businesses in the neighborhood.
And by the way, Franklin now has a restaurant, is slated for a sushi joint, and might even get Indigo Lounge. When will Classon have a bar of its own? Any entrepreneurs out there? Please? -
it's still open, and it's very nice. although i can't speak personally about the previous poster's expectations of, um, specialized merchandise.
i haven't eaten at saje yet, but i picked up a menu the other day, and it looks terrific. paul was in the kitchen, slicing up beautiful baby bok choy.
(but i'm bummed that the sushi place is tatsu. yuck.) -

Went by Saje yesterday, Saturday, about 8 AM but it wasn't open yet. Bummer, because I've gotten use to their early morning Gorilla coffee. Hope all is well.

saje doesn't open until 10am or so on the weekends.
i don't mind, because i never get up that early anyways. -
Hey - I'm assuming this is the LINCOLN DELI that I see in big blue letters when I walk to/from the train... is it still nice & clean with nice owners, and do they still have real fruit?? is the fruit expensive?? this is probably the closest place I could go to get a good apple or something without getting in my car and driving to pathmark ...
ps how late are they open til?
yeah i kinda did think it was still a drug corner, always kids hanging out outside it seems (at least when i pass)
but i will check it out! -
Breatheasy.. have you tried the Korean reen grocer on Franklin, bet. Union & EP? It's a pain to go in there 'cause it's mad crowded, but they have the freshest fruit around. ...Unless of you feel like venturing to Associated on Franklin and Carroll. They are pretty good too, cheaper and bigger than the Key Food on Washington/EP
-
btw. Just because people hang out, doesn't mean they're selling drugs. They could just be hangin out, you know. It's not always fun to be at someone's crib with their moms hangin around when you're 16.

Moms?
-
moms=mother, the one that brought you to this world.
It's slang. Thought you lived in CH? -
Yah, i go there sometimes.. next to island village cafe.
I like how clean it is, its open late, and has a good beer selection.
