what the heck are these sandals everyone has?
Does anyone know the brand of these cork wedge sandals I'm seeing all over the place? They look kind of 70s and I think they are Swedish or Danish or something - a low cork wedge with a single wide strap over the front of the foot and then a strap around the ankle. They seem to come in bright red among other colors.

If you have time there's a really hip shoe store on 5th ave right before Berkeley. They carry foreign shoes and many comfortable but very stylish sandals/heels. I bet you they have them, I'll check for you when I head out tomorrow.

Something like this?

These are from endless.com
I also saw a bunch of cork wedges at DSW this weekend. -
Those are like cork hooker shoes... for the streetwalker that needs a bit more shock absorption.
-

You could even ask her what they're called and where she got them.

I remembered the store, even walked by but they are closed Mondays (dammit)
Name: Soula
They have a store on Smith street too. http://www.soulashoes.com/products.shtml
-window display had some 2 inch wedges, which I'm guessing is more our style nowadays. Ahhh the teen hooker days, good times.
-
save the cork for our wine bottles, please! there already is a shortage
-
ooh, korkease. i wanted them when i was young and my mom wouldn't buy them for me because she said they looked like hooker shoes.

Happened to spot a woman wearing them this morning. Asked her the brand, but she didn't know. Said they were German, so we now know they aren't Fly Flots because Fly Flot is Italian. Said she got them at the shoe store on Fifth Ave near Union St (not soula). They're kind of cute in a babushka sort of way...
-
5th near Union is the store "something else" ? I think, and they do carry lots of woman's shoes.
-
I think she was referring to the fairly new shoe shop next to NYC Pets and Associated Foods. The block that has the little community garden...
-
Oh the Ugg Store!!
There was a lot of jokes tossed about when it first opened. But they do sell shoes that are not Uggs too -
Every single one of these links has ugly shoes. Blech

Christian Louboutin is the only man I need. -
Drool! Me too!!!!!!! Yes please!!!!!!!! I love their store though, not in Saks. The mirrores displays so you can see the red soles. Sigh. Those shoes are more than rent. And I can barely afford rent!
-
Mamacita you are right - they're German. Finally found a pic on flickr and then looked them up at a shoe store and wow are they uglier than I remembered.
