Coney Island Bike Ride - Fri July 17, 8pm

It's cycling and beach season and it's always the season for eating bad food, so let's combine all three and bike to Coney Island.

Last year's ride (see here) was lots of fun, and it deserves to be repeated.

Any takers?? Lurkers and newbies strongly encouraged to join in.

(PS: Having been scared witless on the Cyclone last year, I'll pass on that ride, but possibly could be up for others! Yes, I've got more wimpy as I get older...)

    I ain't riding , tho. We're gonna take the train cuz I'll have my fav 4 year old nephew with me. :)

    If ya'll don't wanna go , it's cool. We'll be going anyway to play , watch the fireworks and maybe eat somewhere there or where ever afterwards.

    How fast are you all planning on going (fast enough to make the 9:30 fireworks I suppose). I'm returning to bicycling after a 30 year hiatus and don't know how fast/far I can get yet.

    By the way..... I always get a bit lost getting for the park onto the bike path... so hopefully someone knows the roads to take at that point!

    It'll take less than an hour to get there, unless you're REALLY slow or afraid of potholes. Or you stop at all the traffic lights on Ocean Parkway.

    Soo....shall we eat at Tatiana's this time, and if so, should we do this before the kitchen closes/they stop serving non-Russians...? I'm picturing my butt on a plastic chair with a beer in front of me around the time of the fireworks (hint!). It'll also make the Wonderwheel/ Cyclone ride later more interesting. Both rides should be mandatory by the way.

    Yes you can, but not from Glechik. Also, Glechik has no outdoor seating.

    Glechik has amazing food, but is not practical for this trip.

    And no Cyclone for me.

    Oh and I rode from my place in Ditmas Park to Key Span Park last night, leisurely 30 minutes.

    It's here! Day one of the Brooklynian triathalon!

    Unfortunately the weather looks as if it could be stormy later, so I propose that a decision is made about 7pm whether or not to go....

    If it's too rainy, perhaps we could meet for a drink instead???

    Not that keen on cycling in thunderstorms myself....

    I say if the weather becomes shitty later (I mean much later) we can take the subway back. That was our backup plan last year also and it never actually rained.
