  • I LOVE La Villa's pizza. Total comfort food.

Pizza Plus can't hold a candle to Friend's when it comes to the by-the-slice joints.
  • hmm where is this Friend's place?
  • Flexichick wrote: That pizza place is Toby's. It's also a bar. I like it. The pies are pretty good, but you need a whole one to yourself and it gets pricey.
agreed, good pizza at toby's. the secret to saving cash there is to drink a lot since the pizza is pricey and the drinks are cheap. obviously this only works if you are a lush.

i can't believe lucali would open up a branch right down the street. this might be considered blasphemy but i don't think lucali is any better than toby's anyway (i just can't get around that cracker crust).

Congratulations! It only took you 37 posts to figure out I'm a lush :-)

i was actually thinking of myself but hey, if the shoe fits...

And, I rather they didn't expand. I want my pizza made by that gorgeous hunk of man, no one else.

EDIT to add. Ehem. Pizza is only $18 and is feeds 2 hungry people. 3 people if you are not a glutton like me.

I got a plain pie about 2 weeks ago - it was $25 (good but not worth $25). Not sure when you were there that it cost $18.
  • That better be damned good pizza for
$25 for a plain pie! I know, $12.50 a person for dinner is cheap, but, it's pizza!
  • Sounds like they definitely raised prices, I haven't been there since last fall. Too bad.

    It is.

Friend's is on 7th Ave and Windsor Pl. South Slope. I wouldn't go waaaay out of my way for a slice, but it's our go-to place for delivery pizza. (and they do great garlic knots!)

I never bother going there....will have to check it out when I am mobile again because both of the places on PPW (Sabella's and Joe's) are horrible

enzo's is no great shakes either. besides which they don't deliver.
  • If you're in the South Slope...Lenny's is the best for delivery.
  • Ugh, you people are making me want pizza. I was trying to cut back since I started getting extra free items "because I'm such a good customer". Embarrassing!
  • What about Luigi's? Are they any good?

You think that's embarrassing... When I was in college, a pizza guy recognized me at a party by my address... The guy just walked up to me and said, "hey, you're southside ave, apartment 1R..." I didn't recognize the guy, I just kinda looked at him and he said "I deliver for Napoli..."
Egad. That's when you know you order too much pizza...
  • They need a name? How about "OVERPRICED PIZZA"???

What's really amazing, you don't have to pay for the over priced pizza.
  • Mpmav1 wrote: It is whole pies that cost like $35 for one topping. (not exaggerating).
    You are seriously F-ing me.

    I wouldn't.
  • I go to Lucali at least once a month (YUM) but the prices are ridics. Last time I was there I think it was $8 for artichoke hearts as a topping on one pie. EIGHT DOLLARS. I also feel like sometimes the waitresses just make up prices - regardless it is awesome, candle-lit, not overrun with tourists, and BYOB so I always go back even though getting the bill sometimes hurts.
SO excited for this to hit 6th Ave!
