Door-to-door energy audit convassors — Brooklynian

Door-to-door energy audit convassors

Has anybody else experienced this?
A guy rang my doorbell this afternoon and asked to sell my electric bill. Of course I declined and not too politely.
If these guys are for real, there's got to be a better way of doing this.

  • If anyone has had a bad experience with energy audit companies, consider contacting Michelle George, the District Manager of Community Board 8 at www.brooklyncb8.org or calling her at 718-467-5620.
This is all very sad as most of the homes in Crown Heights need major energy retrofits and legitimate energy auditors are a scarce and precious commodity. That their good names should be ruined by a bunch of money grubbing con artists is a serious problem.
The Center for Working Families is working on a proposal to create an energy fund that would pay for retrofiting homes but to be successful a lot of community outreach will be necessary. We don't need scammers giving energy audits a bad name.
