Can we at least put our best foot forward?
Alright so while most of us hate to admit it, many people on this board are gentrifying the neighborhood and whatnot, no matter how hard we try not to. However, if you have to gentrify (and, you know, I'm with you) can you at least not be so... hmm... well, let me explain...
I was walking down Lincoln Place today between Underhill and Washington, one of the least "gentrified" blocks in the neighborhood, probably only because of the nature of the buildings. Often when I walk down Underhill I hear someone pumping music from out his or her window or car, generally rap or reggae or whatever, and that's totally cool with me.
Today, though, someone, and I couldn't tell from where, was pumping Matchbox 20. Matchbox 20! Is this really the impression you want to give to your new neighbors? Good god!

I've blasted enough music to deserve to hear even Match Box 20. Karma is a bitch, but I've never driven a Mr. Softee truck, that's a different level of crime.
You know yer in troubble when you start hearing people blast Enya and Tori Amos. hummm... is it actually possible to blast that shit? I think at 7 million decibels Enya would still be quiet and boaring.... -
i used to have what i called the "all techno, all the time" stereo, which caused cds to skip and repeat so much that even sarah mclauchlan sounded like house music. if only i still had it, we could get that enya thumpin and get the block, um, jumping listlessly.

ha.. the circle jerks or nation of ulysses in the the air shaft is usually enough to make the people blasting the rap close their window and allow me to stop blasting my music.
perhaps this matchbox 20 music blasting had similar intent. -
